Historical Aircraft Display Day at
Mojave Air & Spaceport
‘Rutan Field’
Presentation by
DOUG SHANE
Doug Shane works at Anduril Industries, Inc. It is an American defense technology company that specializes in autonomous systems.
Doug participated in the development of Voyager aircraft and was a part of the epic flight around the world, non-stop and unrefueled, when he rented a plane half way around the world to join up with Voyager and check outside condition of Voyager and talk with Dick and Jeana over the radio.
He was one of the first employees at Burt Rutan’s Scaled Composites and succeeded Rutan as president of the company. He was a recipient, along with Burt Rutan and others, of the prestigious Collier Trophy in 2004 for the SpaceShipOne program
He is also the recipient of the Iven C. Kincheloe Award, for Outstanding Professional Accomplishment in Flight Testing and the James H. Doolittle Award, for Outstanding Accomplishment in Technical Management in Aerospace Technology from the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Shane has flown more than 150 types of aircraft including the first flights of several experimental aircraft and is a Commercial pilot with more than 4,000 hours of flight time.
Kelly Hall will bring plenty of books for last minute Christmas shoppers! The Next Five Minutes is a fantastic book that highlights some of the exciting adventures of Dick Rutan including the extraordinary record-breaking flight of Voyager - the first aircraft to fly around the world without stopping or refueling.
Fly in and visit with other pilots and show off your airplane to visitors who love aviation!
We will sign Historical Aircraft Display forms.
