Would anyone be interested in performing a flyover of the Santa Monica Pier on Veteran’s Day?  This gentleman from a veterans organization (they were involved in Wings Over Camarillo) sounds desperate.  I tried the 805th Navion Squadron with no success and don’t know of anyone else who might be willing to do a flyover for them.  Sounds like he’ll donate up to $500.  If you are interested, please contact him directly - but let me know too.
Thanks,

Hi Mark,

I hope that you enjoyed your time in Africa and that you are back safe and sound.

I am reaching out again to hopefully see if there is any way that your group can do a flyby at the Santa Monica Pier between noon and 1300 on Veterans Day.  I am having absolutely no luck finding anyone to help out. I can promise $500 to cover expenses and hope you can do so. Please let me know your thoughts either way.

Thank you for checking.

Hi Tim.  Sorry about that. David Swett is the Navion team lead. That’s who David Vanoni sent it to. I sent just sent a FB message to David Swett, and I’ll follow up with Vanoni. I hope that works. I’m leaving for Africa on Thursday and will be gone through the 26th, but I’ll try to keep prodding. I’ve been told we won’t have much connectivity where we’re going but I’ll try my best.

Hi Mark,

I am reaching back out to you because I have not heard anything from Dave Vanoni about our fly by support for Veteran's Day. I am hopeful that you can let him know that I am waiting to hear from him. Our primary participant backed out for this year has backed out and I am hoping we can plug his group into their slot. It's just a "one pass, haul ass" proposition around noon time or just past noon over the Santa Monica pier. We will compensate them for gas and time up to $500 which is all I am authorized to offer at this time. If I need to go back for a tad more, I could possibly do that. Please advise at your earliest about Dave or any other group you may know that I can contact.

Thank you so much for your time,

Tim "TinyMan" Dura, USAF Ret.

Hi Tim,
I forwarded your request to David Vanoni, who I’ve know for many years.  I got him and his flying friends involved in performing formation fly-bys at local events while I was the Test Wing Commander at Point Mugu(1998-2001).  Since then I’ve seen them at quite a few events around SOCAL.  From David’s reply he passed the information on to David Swett, the 805th Navion Squadron lead.  Hopefully he will be in touch with you soon.  I’ll try to follow up to see how it goes.
Best regards,

Hello,

We talked last year about your club sending some planes to do a fly by on Veterans Day. I am back again this year, hat in hand, asking again if you can get some planes to participate this year. We are just looking for a fly by, a singleton or a loose formation of 2 or more over the Santa Monica pier around noon on Veteran's Day. We have insurance and can offer up to $100 per aircraft for fuel and other expenses.

If you think it would help, I or another legionnaire can come to one of your meetings and talk with your group about this. The Chief of Staff of the Army is the Keynote and there will be several other four stars, politicos including the Governator, Arnold, and Hollywood types in attendance. We will advertise your group to the max extent possible and recognize your group not only for our post but other posts in the area for being Legion friendly. I am hopeful that you can provide us support this year!

Best Regards,

Tim Dura
