I was at work on Wednesday when we got dispatched to an airplane down, six miles west of SLC. We headed out there in Truck 2, along with half a dozen other rigs from the City. We got canceled on the way because the first-in rig arrived and said the plane was undamaged and the pilot unhurt. Having passed our turn-around off-ramps, we continued in. I was able to talk to the pilot of the Bakeng Deuce. His propeller had shattered on one tip. He's not sure if the shaking caused the skullcap spinner to leave, or if the spinner leaving struck the prop. He did a very nice job getting the airplane onto the soft salt, only rolling about 300 feet. He was trying to find the phone numbers of two pilots he knew who could help him get the airplane disassembled and trucked back to SLC. I just happened to have one of those numbers on my phone.
