EAA 445 Members and Friends,
The second Tuesday comes early this month. Our March 8 meeting at
Compass Point will focus primarily on planning and preparations for
the B-25/B-29 bomber tour stop in Tallahassee four weeks from now. The
aircraft will arrive during the last week of March, and press rides
will be given Thursday afternoon, March 31. The public event runs the
first weekend of April, Friday-Sunday, April 1-3 (see attached press
release).
Three activities will be offered to the public. For the first half of
the day, 10am-1pm, rides in the classic warplanes will be given to
those who are paying for tickets. During the second half, 2-5pm, tours
through the aircraft will be offered at modest fees, and the public
will be invited to do walk-around look-sees and take pictures without
charge.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We have some volunteers, but we need more to comfortably be able to
schedule the two shifts per day, Fri.-Sun. It would be good to have
enough volunteers that no one is scheduled more than one shift per day
(accept for a few 445 administrators). If we get enough volunteers,
we'd like to limit volunteer assignments to no more than two shifts
for the event. But, even if you can be available only for one shift
for the event, please do volunteer. Your time contribution will be
much appreciated and valued.
We want to have at least two security-badged volunteers per shift, and
at least three additional volunteers per shift. The $100 cost for
security-badge applications and processing will be covered by Chapter
445. For each badge which is turned-in after the event, the Chapter
will get a $50 refund. For anyone who chooses to retain the badge,
they would have to pay that $50.
If you can attend Tuesday's meeting, whether member, friend, or guest,
that will be great. But, we will share all the details noted for the
preparations with everyone who can volunteer.
