An idea I'm considering

Hi all, long time no theater. 

I'm looking into a possible space: going to try to rent Maynard Jackson HS stage for a show next summer.

Haven't picked the show yet, in talks to see what the possibilities for that space are first. 

Our constraints would be: No alcohol on the premises ever. G rated show, maybe PG, but probably not.  I'm thinking about a musical possibly? I haven't solidified that thought. 

We'd probably invite the HS drama department to try out for roles if they want to and if there are characters that fit the age range. 

This would be a very high profile project in the community if we can get that stage. I'd probably spend all the money we have in the bank, but we would charge for tickets and make a chunk of it back. We'd also probably have a fund raising party somewhere and solicit donations.  

Some of us won't have onstage parts this time, but I would like more support backstage.  I plan to stay offstage myself this time if at all possible. I want dedicated stagehands for makeup, costumes, props, lights, sound. (some of them might be MJHS drama students). 

If this sounds like something you are interested in and can commit to, please let me know? 

This is very early days on the project and I'm just taking the temperature of the group to see if you're interested?
