There are many trends that must be reversed if we are to have a liveable world. The militarization of our various force and a continued pattern of racial profiling, the protection of property over human lives and the injustice of entrenched white privilege - these are among them. We have opportunity here in Worcester, a City of relative peace & prosperity and great racial diversity, birthplace of the American revolution, an opportunity to reach for a higher standard for our local police force. The deft shut-down of OccupyWorcester, recent in our memory is indicative of a need for deep change. Let's gather in the wake of the Ferguson decision, in solidarity with peoples everywhere to cry for a society at war with itself and pray for healing.
