Software Europe Adds 28 New NHS Customers in One QuarterSoftware Europe, the provider of online expenses, contract and workflow management, has ended 2013 on a record high, adding 29 new clients in its third quarter. 28 of those clients are NHS providers. The new deals mean that Software Europe now administers over £65 million pounds of expenses to over 600,000 NHS employees across the UK. Software Europe's cloud-based Expenses Health product has been chosen in the third quarter by, amongst others, Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust.

Without a detailed understanding of the NHS, you could be forgiven for thinking that the global financial crisis and government's austerity measures were somehow responsible for the financial crisis and the capacity gap that the NHS faces. But nothing could be further from the truth, which is that there has ALWAYS been a gap between demand for healthcare and capacity to deliver AND the gap has increased year on year; and increasing financial input, unless directed very strategically, has historically not addressed the gap.

New EU Rapid Alert Platform for Human Blood and Blood ComponentsA new platform launched by the European Commission will improve the safety of patients that undergo medical treatment involving blood and blood products. National health authorities can use the web-based Rapid Alert system for Blood and Blood Components (RAB) that allows them to exchange information so that cross-border incidents are prevented or contained and immediate measures can be taken to ensure the safety of patients.
