to e4ward
I'm new to this part of the web and e-mail world and I just do not
know how it works.

Can I just pickup a domain from GoDaddy for what ever they charge, and
then direct it to e4ward?

Do I need a web host or a name hosting service, or is that what I am
paying GoDaddy for?

I know I need to chage some pointers to e4ward but I don't know where
ther would be. Would they be with GoDaddy or with some name hosting
service?

I'm not even real clear on some of the meaning of the different
services.

A simple road map from buying a domain to e4ward working happily with
it would help me greatly, just please don't leave out any simple/
obvious steps, because they are not simple or obvious to me yet.

Thank you
Adam

Yes.

Its part of what you pay GoDaddy for. You could also use a separate
DNS provider (such as dnsmadeeasy.com)

They would specified with your name host service (which by default
would be GoDaddy)

The registrar (eg GoDaddy) registers your chosen name and links the
name to a (set of) name server(s). The name service provides you with
name servers where you can define where your web servers and mail
servers for your domain name are hosted (ie what IP address). Both are
optional but you will be defining E4ward as your mail server.

1 Register your domain
2 In your Registrar account, set up your name servers which can be at
your registrar itself itself or another DNS provider. The process
varies by provider.
3 Add 3 MX records pointing to E4ward. The process varies by provider
but the information is the same: a priority and a hostname. Ie,
10 mx1.e4ward.com
10 mx2.e4ward.com
10 mx3.e4ward.com
It can take a while for those additions to take effect. You can test
if they are in effect by using a service such as mxtoolbox.com
4 In your E4ward account, go to the domains page and add your domain name.
5 After that, you can add forwards to the domain just like you do with
your e4ward subdomain. (eg youracct.e4ward.com)
