I have a set up my account recently and I'm not sure it is working. I
am forwarding to a gmail account. To test, I tried sending multiple
emails to my alias but the have not arrived at my gmail account (after
multiple days). The test was done by sending from the same gmail
account - would that be a problem for any reason? Why aren't they
arriving? I have no faith in the service, if this kind of test
doesn't work.

This is purely a gmail 'feature' and has nothing to do with E4ward - whenever a message is sent from Gmail to the same Gmail account (irrespective of whether or not the message is forwarded through E4ward),  Gmail only shows the sent copy of the message, and not the received copy.

A more valid test of forwarding would be to originate the test message from a different email account.

I'm not sure that's precisely true. While it's true that only one copy
of the email will exist, the email will show up as unread the the
gmail inbox. And by the sound of it, R has not seen anything in the
inbox.

R, did you receive the confirmation e-mail yet? When a new e4ward
account is created, an e-mail is sent to the forwarding address. It
seems that this goes through some kind of human validation first, to
prevent abuse, and can take days. Once that e-mail is received, and
the linked clicked on to confirm, I have found that emails forward
from the service reliably and almost instantaneously.

True.

> the email will show up as unread

... also true - the sent copy is immediately shown (as unread) on pressing send, but since no additional received copy ever comes, most users (including us, at first!) interpret this as a forwarding issue, especially as  very often this is their very first test of the service.

The OP did receive the confirmation, and in fact this issue was previously resolved offline through the support channel. We wanted to post the issue and resolution here, for the benefit of other gmail users, as it is frequently encountered and reported to us.

Sign-ups are currently moderated for quality purposes and to prevent abuse. Moderation response times typically range from a few minutes to a few hours.
