What:Solar Tour organized by the Northern California Solar Energy Association (NorCal Solar), a volunteer educational outreach group promoting the use of solar energy, and hosted by City of Walnut Creek. Listen to informative speakers and visit a half dozen local sites with solar and green features including three private homes, one apartment complex, a college campus, and a large building installation. The event is part of the world's largest grassroots solar tour day with over 700 solar tours taking place.
Why: See solar energy systems in action in real homes in your community. Talk to homeowners living with solar homes. Learn how to use energy from the sun and about rebates and tax incentives from the state, local and federal government for doing it.
When: Saturday, Oct. 2 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Tour begins at the Walnut Creek Library. Meet there for free map, fact sheets, speakers (Oak View Room in library), and solar energy demonstrations. 1644 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.
