Last night I saw a recording of Cupertino City council discussion of a
planned solar panel installations at Cupertino city facilities. The
council has forwarded this proposal to the Planning Commission, the
next meeting being December 14, 6:45pm at council chamber in Community
Hall.
Some bullet points that I recall from the presentation:
* no up-front cost to the city
* structured as a power purchase agreement, with reduced utility bills
* solar panels to be installed in city parking lots
* this is part of a joint-buy proposal from several bay-area cities
* there is a time deadline to get federal credits
issues:
* rate of return for the city
* tree replacement question
* aesthetics
I would be interested to attend this meeting, and possibly deliver a
short statement of support. I think any Cupertino residents can
participate.
