When I try to connect through an instance of e2guardian 5.5.3r, I'm unable to connect. Looking at the access.log, it appears that I get 403 for all urls that I attempt to access through the proxy.

There are lots of reasons why you may get a 403.   Look at the message in the access.log.  This should tell you why you are getting a 403.   What mode are you using?  Always test with explicit proxy mode before trying transparent mode.

I'm not sure what mode I'm using. It says `Failed to negotiate ssl connection to client` for all of them.
