Hi. I found a nice meditation timer called Pocket Doan for Palm OS
and Windows Mobile devices at www.handango.com. It actually works as
a doan, keeping the time and ringing the bells (or whatever sound you
choose) at the start and end of a session (or a phase) It has a multi-
phase timer with timed pauses which, in my case works great when I
practice Zazen and Kinhin. This application stores several programmed
sessions. I have one stored as Zazen Morning (in which I usually
practice two sittings with kinhin sessions in between sittings and at
the end of my practice session, and one stored as Zazen night with one
Zazen and kinhin session. It can also be programmed to ring a
mindfulness bell hourly or every half hour on the days of the week you
choose. The application is free of charge, and you will have to
register at Handango in order to download it, but it is worth it. You
no longer have to worry about looking at a watch, timer or clock, just
choose the appropriate sounds and focus on your practice!

Hi Demian,

I've been using it for some time, but recently I found a new version
of Pocket Doan. There is also a nice application called Zen Garden
where you can create your own Zen garden (dry garden) on your Palm-
powered PDA http://zen-garden.en.softonic.com/palm. This application
is also free of charge. Work on it with mindfulness (samu). It is a
nice substitute for those games you play at airports and other down
times when you feel bored, so you can practice mindfulness instead!
