Hi! Does anyone know where I can get the text of the sutra that is
usually recited during prostrations (Sampai)? Or has anyone heard
about it? My zen teacher once told me about this sutra, and I would
like to study it. A hint: all I know about it is a part where it
states that "the rivers of wisdom may not flow over the mountains of
pride". Thanks

Hi, Ivan!

What lineage is this in? All the places I've done 3 , 9, or 108 bows
during services have either been silent or accompanied by a handbell.
Perhaps it's part of a repentance ritual?

If you discover a location for the sutra, let us know.

Hi Weasel,

This is in the Sanbo Kyodan school. We usually do 3 bows during
services
and in fact they are silent only accompanied by the inkin bell. I am
not sure
about it being part of any other type of ritual. Perhaps it is
something zen teachers
recite during kenshukai. If I do find it, I will make sure to post it
here.
