Question 1:
Why did the Torah use the word "habaim" in present tense?
The reason that the Torah uses this word is because while Joseph was
alive, the Jews did not feel that they were in Egypt. They had their
freedom and their independence. With Joseph's death, that was the
beginning of the enslavement and oppression. Therefore the Torah is
calling it in the present, because after Joseph's death was the real
arrival to Mitzraim.

This is also hinted in parsha MiKetz, chapter 43:verse 20. The
brothers say to Joseph "yored yaradnu." The hinting here is that
there is a double descent. With Jacob, it is a physcial descent, and
after Joseph's death, it was a descent to slavery.

Please feel free to respond.

Why G-d would put his people through slavery, resulting in our cries and are they heard - Slavery unifies a group with the shared danger and abuse,  how better to show a group that you are the One G-d, then to deliver them from Evil and bondage. and the group forever after under the direction to never forget    we were slaves in Egypt   has an understanding and empathy emotional and intellectual for ever and will understand its obligations to raise the fallen, help the ill and release the enslaved- and achieve its mission as a light unto the nations of the world

Moshe did not refuse G-d. Moshe wanted the redemption to come not
through a human being, even as holy as he is, but to come through G-
d. Moshe knew that a redemption through even a holy and powerful
individual would still be a limited redemption. If G-d will make the
redemption, it would be the ultimate and final redemption.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Rabbi you wrote, "If G-d will make the redemption, it would be the
ultimate and final redemption." I thought this is through Moshiach so
g-d acting through man like he acted through Moshe?
