Yesterday's THRIVE was proven to be a bogus story, but generated a strong response ... some suggesting that Jesus would have welcomed them, or others suggesting that some have not ever had to deal with refugees and what Jesus might do needed to be supported me in light of the crime of some refugees and illegals, and in light of the issue refugees are causing German..

"THRIVING Together" - By Jennifer Siderius (Maryland)
As an elementary teacher and mother of a toddler, I’ve developed a small talent for belting out random children’s song lyrics. If it has a jingle and teaches a lesson, then it’s in my repertoire. Recently, I walked down memory lane and sang the classic children’s song “The More We Get Together” after my daughter learned it at daycare. And since my daughter believes in singing the same song repeatedly, not only did I have the opportunity to rediscover it, but had the chance to have the lyrics imprinted on my brain.
During what I felt was the hundredth singing of the tune, one line jumped out at me. “Oh, the more we get together, the happier we’ll be.” In that moment, it hit me; this line perfectly describes the feelings I have when worshipping with fellow believers. What joy is found in fellowship and studying the Word with others! Those opportunities to share praises, support heartaches, and grow spiritually together are irreplaceable. We are truly happier when we get together as believers. In Matthew 18:20, Jesus promised, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (NIV) No wonder my heart feels light after Bible studies, prayer meetings or church services!
Now, more than ever before, we need to “get together”. As our world turns farther away from the Lord, we need to turn more towards each other and keep the faith by assembling together. Hebrews 10:22-25 states, “So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.” (The Message)
Even though it took me 100 times of listening to a children’s song to hear the message God was sending to my heart, it’s there now, imprinted forever. Lord, help us all find a fellowship where we can find joy in serving with other believers.
