triggering biosemi eeg system with parallel port -- parallel port on new computer not working

Hello, we recently upgraded a computer where we use eprime to trigger our biosemi eeg system through a parallel port.  The new parallel port is a pci express card (instead of the integrated onboard one we had on the prior machine) and it is supposed to support SPP, EPP, and ECP mode (which it auto detects and selects and cannot be set manually).  I followed the instructions on the eprime website to change the port address in the eprime user inline code, but once we try to write to the port to trigger the EEG system we get an "overflow error."  This is happening with both eprime version 1 and 2.  I called the manufacturer of the card and they said I can't manually default the card to SPP mode, which I know eprime prefers, so I wonder if that is an issue. I also checked the BIOS and am unable to change it from ECP to SPP mode there.   Any suggestions on how to get this to work?
