Hi.

I designed a simple detection task and I confirmed it operates well on my PC.

However, in our laboratory we use two monitors with one located inside the shielded room for participants.

The monitors are connected via HDMI cables.

The problem  I encounter is that once the experiment is run and subject information is entered, both keyboards and mouse no longer respond to the experiment it responds well  on the 2nd monitor.

It's a simple duplicate display option I used from the Windows but I don't understand how the input devices won't work at the experiment.

I tried Alt+Tab to shift the display toward the experiment, yet all input devices operates within the 2nd non-experiment monitor outside the experiment while the experiment remains frozen.

Is there specific pre-setting I need to have to use multiple monitors?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I found that if you duplicate displays then it will always freeze and crash. I use extended displays in our dual monitor setup, so only the participant can view the experiment. You can move which screen shows the experiment in "Experiment" - "Devices" - "Display" - and then change the "Display Index" depending on which screen you want to show the experiment.

Hopefully this fixes the freezing issue, which may in turn help with the input devices.

Best wishes

Jake

Thank you for the detailed advice.

That's interesting since I've had no issue running an experiment on duplicate monitors which were the setting the lab I used to be in used.

I tried extending the display, yet the input devices were pushed to the other display where the experiment is not displayed :(

Have you had such experience?

Had the same issues in the past.
Especially if 'match resolution at runtime' was enabled.

I had tried both options on that setting... Yet no luck :(

Have you found the solution for your problem?

This might be a bit late, but in our setup we use a splitter to duplicate the video output to two monitors instead of using software settings, and this seems to work quite well. Our splitter uses DVI but I'm sure you could find an HDMI version, or just use adapters.

Hope this helps,
Michael
