Hi All,

I'm new here, so forgive me if this has been discussed, but I'm running e-prime 2.0 and am trying to track down a strange bug that I think is related to e-prime.  Of my last 20 subjects or so in a new experiment, twice upon exiting the script after a normal completion, the desktop appears very briefly and then the screen starts color cycling rapidly and becomes unresponsive to keyboard input.  When I reboot, the data file is saved and looks ok, but I can't open it- I get error code 0x80030050.  This has happened on two different computers, so I think it's eprime related.  We've run multiple people in all conditions of the study, so this bug would seem to be intermittent.  Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

Jonathan,

What happens if you use E-Recovery to convert the txt-file to edat format?

Hi Paul,

I had the option set to remove the text file upon successful completion of the experiment.  I don't see the text file with the edat2 file, so I assume eprime removed it.  I've since changed the option and recompiled the program so I will have the text file either way, but is it possible that e-prime crashed sometime in between deleting the text file and finalizing the edat2 file?

Jonathan,

I don't know the details of the conversion process, but it is not impossible that a conversion or write error is not detected in the script. By automatically deleting the recovery file you risk loosing the data that was available in the original txt-file. Just let us know if the text file can be recovered properly once you've reproduced the crash.
