Hi there,

It is finally ‘official’ that there will be  no new ICTPD clusters in 2011.  However the budget allocated to ICT professional development still remains and tenders are currently ‘up for grabs’ re regional and national approaches to supporting schools with e-learning.

Will keep you postedJ

Have a good week.

Regards

Rocky

Subject: Information about the ICT PD programme

Tēnā koe

I am writing to you because earlier this year you enquired about the ICT PD cluster programme and I made a commitment to contact you when further information was available.

As you will be aware the Secretary for Education Karen Sewell recently wrote to all schools about the Government's plans for a much stronger frontline focus on lifting student achievement. More>>

The aim of this refocused approach is to ensure all schools have the capability to improve outcomes for all students. One of the core elements of this approach is the redesign of centrally-funded teacher professional learning and development (PLD). The redesign will enable better coordination of consistent, high quality and effective PLD across New Zealand.

It also means changes to the way that professional development for e-learning is provided. In 2011 the Ministry is not seeking to select new clusters to the current ICT PD programme. However, as the current clusters exit the programme funding will transition to e-learning PLD that will be allocated through the Ministry’s regional offices.

Further information on the new approach to overall PLD provision for 2011 will be published in the Education Gazette on 6 September. Please contact me directly if you have any further queries in the meantime.
