dear all

i regret that i never practised my pharmacy which would enable me to
participate more. nevertheless, let me help in networking and
promoting this to the civil society, particularly to those working on
poverty/quality of life, health and human rights and women and
development. i think they would be interested at least to be kept
informed of developments and from time to time join in. i look forward
to more equitable health to all, especially those who can't afford and/
or access sufficient health services.

Hello Sir Eloy and Everybody,

I am very happy to be a part of this group. When I was still in
Manila, I never realized the potential of telehealth (and all its
definitions). I basically thought of it as gagdet-y and flashy,
specially for e-learning of medicine but then when I started
practicing here in southwestern Mindanao where I need to give out my
private cell number to local doctors and patients because of the sheer
distance over air, land and sea before they can see a doctor, then I
thought of the actual NEED for this technology to work. Moreover,
after graduating our students in the school of medicine here and have
gone back to their rural communities for practice, the need for
connectivity among peers becomes more important. We are a fledgling
office (made up of two members--- and IT guy and myself---our RA quit)
and need a lot of ideas and input on how we should go about this so I
am looking forward to listening to all of your ideas and comments
about our projects here.

Hi Irynn,

No prob...we need your input as civil society and also from a
patient's (knock-on-wood) perpsective...

one quick question is: how do you feel if you go to a doctor's clinic
and they type up your info on the computer? Do they need to ask
permission or do can they just go ahead without having to explain
anything to you (eg, security, who has access, etc)...

i don't remember experiencing it for myself but i did in my son's case
with his ear doctor. one day when we went there for his occasional ear
consultation, a new assistant asked him to pose for the photo and
inputted his info from the card to the computer. i thought aba, high
tech na si doc and didn't think anything about that anymore. no, i
didn't even think of security, who has access, etc. now, the assistant
can easily sell the info to interested parties, right? then my son may
be barraged with e-selling. i see...

Yes, there should be guidelines on how to take pictures from patients...this was not a problem when 35mm was the norm (doctors/nursesw will think twice before spending film on the patient) but with digital pics, since it's so easy to shoot and save, it has become a (big) problem already...

These are some of the issues that this mailing list could possibly resolve (in a civil society-way)
