| A number of communities in Pakistan and Afghanistan are facing severe crises.
In recent weeks, flash floods have displaced thousands in Pakistan, while a
6.0-magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan’s Kunar and Nangarhar provinces has left families in fragile conditions. This takes place on the heels of catastrophic floods in Northern Pakistan in 2022—the worst in the country’s history—which caused an estimated $40 billion in losses and from which the country is still recovering. |

| With the support of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance, AKDN agencies, community organizations and volunteers, responders have been on the ground evacuating families, distributing food and supplies, repairing water and road systems, and providing medical care. In Afghanistan, search and rescue, emergency shelter, and hygiene support are reaching even remote areas.
With decades of disaster response experience and the support of FOCUS, these efforts are helping families recover today while building resilience for tomorrow.
