Summary of the Farman Mubarak

1. Calls to Action – Guidance for all the Jamat without exception

The Farman calls upon every Murid who include  Leaders  to:

Remember Allah every day and practise constant Shukrana (gratitude).
Remain steadfast on Sirat al-Mustaqim.
Draw strength from faith in both hardship and success.
Support one another and strengthen unity across the Jamat while respecting each other’s cultures, traditions and heritage.
Maintain regular contact with fellow murids, especially where distance from Jamatkhana makes this more challenging.
Make the fullest use of educational, vocational and lifelong learning opportunities.
Learn the national language of the country of residence, together with English where possible, to improve education, employment and integration.
Integrate positively into wider society without compromising Ismaili identity or the principles of the faith.
Live ethically through honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and respect for the laws of the land.
Build loving, respectful and safe families, reject every form of domestic abuse and seek help whenever needed.
Care for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being through healthy living, exercise and positive relationships.
Recognise that only the Imam, and those serving through the Constitution’s appointed institutional framework, are authorised to represent the Imam or the Imamat.
Appreciate volunteers, forgive shortcomings, and continue serving one another with generosity, humility and unity.

The Farman also contains a number of important directions and commitments, including:

“I’m strengthening our Jamati and AKDN institutions. I’m investing in Jamat Khanas and facilities available for the Jamat.”

“Your quick and stable integration is supported by the Imam, by the institutions of the Imamat, by the Jamat, and by members of the Jamat. You have support all around you.”

“I will work with my leaders to invest in resources to strengthen the support the Jamat receives, and to increase provision of community facilities. You must also make your own efforts to lift yourselves up.”

“If you have an aptitude for academic learning, take advantage of the educational opportunities available here. If the right path for you is through vocational training, if you’re interested in practical trades, or craftsmanship, or working with your hands, develop these skills. Or look at opportunities in the service industry. Whichever your path, my Jamat should seek to make the most of the educational opportunities available to you. Commit to lifelong learning, be the best you can be. Keep learning in order to expand employment and business opportunities.”

“Integrate into the wider community. You can do that without compromise. It does not mean losing your own identity.”

“Our community lives according to the principles of our faith. Our values are universal human values. Our values guide us to be honest, to have integrity, to conduct ourselves ethically. My Jamat has a well-earned reputation for being trustworthy, reliable, and law-abiding. We respect the laws of the countries where we live. I would like my Jamat to live according to the values of our faith. This should bring unity in the Jamat and harmony in your homes.”

“The Quran instructs us to respect each other, and to protect the vulnerable. I want to say very clearly that there’s no place in our Jamat for domestic abuse. When anyone in our community is being hurt, it’s as if I am being hurt. Do not hurt others physically or with your words. Every member of my Jamat should be able to feel safe in their own home.”

2. Blessings, Assurances and Commitments from the Imam

The Farman also conveys the Imam’s blessings, assurances and commitments:

Blessings for courage, strength of faith, good health, unity, stability, material and spiritual success.
Prayers for the safety and security of the Jamat everywhere, for peace, Mushkil Asan, and for the eternal rest and peace of the Ruhani members of the Jamat.

“I give prayers for the safety and security for the Jamat everywhere. I give prayers for peace. I give special loving blessings for Mushkil Asan. May Allah ease your burdens. And I give special loving blessings for the eternal rest and peace of the Ruhani members of our Jamat.”

Recognition of the resilience of murids who have migrated and reassurance that the Imam is always watching over them, praying for them, and working for their benefit.

“My President has offered a most generous Nazrana on your behalf. I accept this Nazrana and I give blessings for your generosity. I will use all this Nazrana for the benefit of my European Jamat.”

Blessings for all volunteers, donors and those serving the Jamat.
The gift of a Tasbih to every murid as a reminder of the Imam’s personal love and the eternal spiritual bond between the Imam and every murid.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your acknowledgement and, if appropriate, any corrections together with the official authenticated and verbatim Farman, any authorised annotations, and, if possible, the official audio recording, so that the Jamat may benefit from the Imam’s guidance in Farmans, in the complete and authentic form as conveyed by Hazar Imam and the annotations
