Do I have to create some way to verify if the user still have an
active session with cookies or whatever?

I know this is not specific to dyuproject, but is there some sample
that also manages this?

The OpenIdUserManager already manages the lifetime of the openid user's session.
A call to RelyingParty.discover(request) will return the authenticated user (and caches it on the HttpServletRequest for subsequent calls).
Depending on your application's state, you can prolong a user's session or invalidate it via the OpenIdUserManager. (relyingParty.getOpenIdUserManager())

Hope that helps

Regards
