A friend of mine is a successful cinematographer; she’s worked hard
and now shoots Hollywood movies, commercials, and the kind of
independent films that get wide release. I met her many years ago when
we were both working on a small film. At that time she’d already had
some acclaim for her craft and her career was moving upward. I was
still drifting aimlessly, treading water, struggling over what it was
I’d do with my life.
