A modern resident of no less modern China falls into the distant past, taking the place of one of the seven great Shaolin warriors (whom we will even be given the choice!) In the complex intricacies of political intrigues around the capture of the throne of the Great Chinese Empire.
The dosbox-based game has already been completely rebuilt here, as well as experimental support for Eduke32. Well, the music is voiced on the bank of the tools of my rebuilding. (where Corak20xx vx.xx is indicated at the end of the melody name is one of my experimental assemblies of instruments)
Also can be a thing. I've checked few DosBox configurated versions. All of them has, in additional to game difficult, fps drop problem / kinda lag, input lag. Back in the day not remember such thing on old PC. Windows NT version don't run on Windows 10. At least immediately.
Main thing that few folks asked author about added. Now you can see where is "right" exit and don't miss some levels. Maps in total contain several exists. Some of them allow you to skip few levels in... well not clear in which algorithm this thing works. Same as levels don't have "normal" names here. Perhaps that option also will be added later. One guy mentioned list of names he invented.
I don't have too much time to check right now but just roughly look the document(English version)...well, found some of mis-spells(and just changed) but I think since you have the original source reference links listed, and they should be helps for checking those mis-spelled Chinese names if you really pay attention...hell, even the document name even mis-spelled too... "The legend of seven palladins", you have extra "l" when spells Paladin. :P
And somebody has very fluent of English grammar should review these texts with source links since I feel some "copy'n'paste and/or translate problems in it...I just don't have too much time for that, sorry.
Well, fighting games in Taiwan still good enough of player base, but mostly for SF, DoA and MK, other games like KoF or SS may not be known to younger players as they were not many new games these years but still well known for older players.
Paladins also have a book as a background. Just randomly found this fact. 81 pages. Pretty old one. This version was translated in 1974. Original text is dates as year of 1883. Not sure does / not english version exist... but I think it must be somewhere.
Then started a new game on Hardcore / Legend difficulty, completed the game, but the Shaolin Legend trophy did not unlock for me. I went back to Level Select (the monk sitting next to a table with some scrolls) and completed any remaining levels, all levels now say "Difficulty: Legend", but still no trophy.
I'm also missing Coward's Path, not sure what the requirement is. I read on the Steam forum that you need to return to camp (edit: this turned out to be false, read my reply below on how to unlock). I tried dying in a level and select Return to Camp instead of Restart, or simply pausing the game and return to camp, but no trophy.
Actually the Shaolin Warrior trophy (complete Normal difficulty) did not unlock for me immediately after the final boss. It popped after I went back to level select and completed a couple more levels. But in my hardcore playthrough, I have completed everything, got all weapons/beads/shoes, all secrets, but no trophy.
Thanks for the advice! I also finally plat it just now. I replayed the final level twice and the Hardcore trophy finally unlocked for me, so there must be some tracking issue with the game. But at least I didn't have to start a third playthrough.
For anyone else reading, just to be clear, the trophy requirement is you have to reach the end of a level, and run all the way back to the beginning of the level. On Mount Longhu, get to the end and press R1 to shut down the flame wall. Do not go inside the final battle area, just run back to the start of the level and the trophy will unlock.
I believe what he meant was he first finished 1 playthrough on Easy, then use level select to replay all levels on Hardcore in reverse order (from the last level back to the first level), which didn't unlock the Hardcore trophy for him, but he replayed the final level on Hardcore again and the trophy popped.
Then started a new playthrough on Hardcore. The first few levels can be a bit challenging, but things will get easier as you upgrade your skills (the skill that let you levitate enemies is very OP). It'll only take you an hour or two to finish the game if you skip all dialogues, and you'll know what to expect from your 1st playthrough.
So, 2022 the difficulty trophies are still glitched. If you're like me and played the whole game start to finish on Legend and not unlocking neither difficulty trophies (but the complete all missions and complete the game with dying trophies did) and the solutions of replaying the last level 3 times, replaying each chapter from descending order while also defeating the last boss in between chapters on Legend, and trying to complete the last chapter on easy are not working.
I just got the platinum, the game is nice, but the trophies are glitchy in co-op, only the host gets the difficulty and story completion trophies, the skills trophy is also buggy in co-op, my friend got it all up, he didn't get the trophy, he quit and joined me again and the trophies pop well when he talked to the skills pnj again
If you want to do the game in coop, you will have to do the game at least 2 times in legend because only the host gets the trophies. Fortunately it is not long!
I was very happy with the game until I had problems with the trophies. I was not able to get the Shaolin Legend trophy after completing the game on lower difficulty and then changing it to Legend. None of the advices on forum solved this (replaying last level multiple times or any other levels in different order etc). I only got the trophies after I starting a new game on Legend difficulty. Now that I've finished everything, I can only say - f**k this game!
I beat the entire game on Novice difficulty. I then chapter selected in descending order all the levels on Legendary difficulty. The trophies didn't unlock. I loaded up the final mission again, beat the boss and the two difficulty related trophies unlocked. Weird.
TIP: Upgrade Seal of Attraction to the max, wear the 108 Passions beads (necklace), Monk shoes and equip the Jade Cliff weapon. Once you're in each level spam the shit out of + during each enemy encounter. It makes this game on Legendary a complete walk in the park. I enjoyed this developer's other game, Redeemer, a hell of a lot more.
Online coop seems to mess a lot with trophies. Upon talking for the first time to the skill guy in my friend's game, I got the trophy for learning one technique. I didn't get the other trophies for that, even though I had everything maxed out. I had to quit his game, join again, and talk to the guy again, to unlock all three trophies at once. I also got the trophy for collecting all items after the first coop level, but I didn't get the trophy for finishing all missions at the end of the game. For that, I needed to play everything again in my game. I also couldn't unlock Be the Wind, neither in his game nor mine. It eventually popped during a normal fight, without me doing what was needed (but I did all kinds of methods before that several times). Anyway, glad it's over.
Bodhidharma was the second Indian Buddhist monk to travel to Southern China. He was born to King Sugandha in the late 5th century. After Bodhidharma was born, he became a member of the warrior caste called Kshatriya. He grew up in a very religious atmosphere and later became a teacher.
According to traditions, he was said to have been the founder of Zen, or Ch'an Buddhism. Although there is little information on his biography, he is considered a legend. His arrival to China is a debatable subject. Some say that he traveled to China during the Song Dynasty, around 420-479 AD and another says he arrived during the Liang Dynasty, around 502-557 AD. However, it is concurred that his activity was most present in the lands of the Northern Wei Dynasty, around 386-534 AD. In the 6th century he had a meeting with Emperor Wu-Ti. The emperor started having local Buddhist monks translate text form Sanskrit to Chinese, thinking this was a chance for the public to practice the religion; he wanted to give way to nirvana. Bodhidharma did not agree with Wu-ti and believed that one should not take action to get benefits, but should act because it's the right thing to; therefore, he and Wu-Ti went their separate ways. Bodhidharma later traveled to a nearby temple named Shaolin to speak to the translating Buddhist monks. When he first arrived he was refused admittance, but he meditated until he proved that he was worthy. During his stay at the Temple, he noticed the monks there were weak from the long hours of meditation. Because the monks were weak and thin at the time when Bodhidharma arrived, he developed Shaolin Kung Fu to make them stronger and healthier. Therefore, he went to a nearby cave behind the temple where he meditated for nine years to find a way to strengthen them. There are many legends about Bodhidharma and his stay at the Temple and caves. One legend suggests that Bodhidharma developed Shaolin Kung Fu to help heal cramps from lengthy hours of meditation. Another says that he developed it to protect himself wild beasts that crept close by the cave. Some say that while he was meditating, he faced problems with sleep, so he cut off his eye lids with a knife. Another legend says that the sun burned his shadow onto the rock where he meditated because he sat there for many years that rock is currently displayed at the Shaolin Temple. When he returned to the Temple, he used Indian stretches such as yoga to strengthen the monks.
