Have you ever forgotten your Asus laptop password and found yourself locked out of your own device? It's an annoying and stressful situation, but don't worry - there are ways to get back into your laptop even if you can't remember the password.

In this comprehensive guide, I'll walk you through the steps to unlock your Asus laptop if you've forgotten your password, using both simple software-based solutions and more advanced hardware reset options. We'll also look at ways to prevent this issue in the future with password manager programs and proper password hygiene. Follow along step-by-step and you'll be back in your Asus laptop in no time.

  • Try your usual passwords that you use for other accounts, in case you accidentally typed one of those in.
  • If you have keyboard shortcuts turned on, try entering your password without them. For example if your password is "apple49" but you have "a" set to auto-expand to "@", try entering "apple49".
  • Try your password in both lower and UPPERCASE letters. Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • If your password contains special symbols, try entering it with and without those symbols.
  • If you added numbers like "123" to the end of your password, try entering it without those appended numbers.
  • Slow down when typing your password - going too fast can cause you to mistype a character.

Taking an extra minute to retry your usual passwords, while being mindful of shortcuts and capitalization, can save you a lot of time before resorting to advanced solutions. So give it a shot first just in case!

  • Write down a password hint: Keep a vague written hint with your laptop that jogs your memory on your password if forgotten. Just don't make it too obvious.
  • Enable password recovery: Asus laptops allow setting up password reset questions that can help recover a forgotten laptop password.
  • Use biometric logins: If your Asus laptop has a fingerprint reader, setting up a fingerprint login is more convenient than remembering passwords.

My internet has been dropping off randomly, and rebooting the unit fixes this. But I'm doing this almost daily which is becoming annoying. So I when i went check the version to see if I could update it I realised I have forgotten what my user name and password is for my RT-AX3000 router (haven't touched it since setting up at new house back in Dec 22), I thought I have saved these details in my password manager.

I reset the router by holding reset button for 5+ sec, but when it rebooted it just connected back to the internet and wifi. But is still asking for the login and password when you try to enter Asus setting at IP 192.168.X.X

Step 1: Activate the Asus Laptop
To start off, power up your Asus laptop and press the F2 key to activate the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) menu. This menu will allow you to configure your laptop and reset the password.

By following these three simple steps, you can securely reset your Asus laptop password and regain access to your device. Keep in mind that having a strong password is essential for the security of your laptop, so make sure to create a secure, memorable password when resetting your device.

You should also be aware of phishing attempts and other social engineering attacks. These involve sending a fake reset password link or entering some other type of deceptive information in order to gain access to your Asus laptop. Be sure to double-check links and verify the source of any emails, texts, or messages you receive regarding password or account changes.

This is weird because I have never created a BIOS Password and when I tried to boot into the BIOS it is asking password. I have tried ALT R and that did not help because it was not giving me the recovery code. When researched I found that I may have to clear the CMOS but unfortunately this is a new laptop and it does not have CMOS battery or I could not find the jumper pin.

The ASUS X200CA must be about 10 years old. The date issue indicates that the CMOS battery has gone which will reset the BIOS. So You must change it for a new one. ASUS support is quite good. See: _BIOS/

On modern laptops if you set and loose the BIOS password you are stuck with it as is. Manufacturers no longer give out codes to unlock them unless you are extremely lucky with a contact. Maybe that method by David Zou still works. If you are into Linux you could install a Distro such as Linux Mint on a spare hard drive in another PC t and then put in the original and that may work.
In my view a laptop with a missing BIOS password seriously affects its value.
