Hi all,

a new member just joined today, which inspired me to send out an e-mail. This list has been very quiet for a long time...
I realize that I have not made it enough of a priority to post on a regular basis.

However, that doesn't mean that I'm not involved with Dynamic Facilitation!  To the contrary, all of my facilitation work,
even when I am not using "four charts", continues to be deeply informed by DF.

The same goes for my teaching... while I've not offered any public 3-day DF trainings recently,
I did have an opportunity earlier this month, to offer an in-house workshop on "listening so that people feel heard",
and how that applies to both coaching and to group facilitation.

This was for a small start-up that does process improvement with accounting departments...
the workshop was very well-received, and the company now wants an expanded program of learning support
for their employees to develop these skills. Yay!!!

I'd love to hear from others on this list, about how your facilitation, training, or consulting work is going,
and what is alive for you, these days...

in the meantime, happy holidays, and all best wishes to you!

Hi all,

over here in Germany Dynamic Facilitation is alive and gaining more interest. My colleague Jutta Herzog and I just finished a seminar on DF with 21 participants. The reactions were very enthusiastic.

We are also looking forward to the second edition of Rosa’s book on DF in German. It will contain two additional chapters (one written bei Rosa, one by myself). The second edition will be available on March 15, 2019. The first edition is sold out.

A colleague of ours (Eva) is looking for a DFer who speaks Arabic and preferably lives in the Near East or in Europe? Does anyone have an idea? Eva is German, married to a Turk, lives in the South of Turkey and wants to work with DF in or near Syria.

Happy holidays

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Does Eva know about Rojava, the radical democratic ecofeminist Kurdish enclave in northern Syria on the Turkish border?

I did a blog post about them two years ago
http://www.tomatleeblog.com/archives/175327512

and I just ran across a recent interview and video about their current scene
https://international.thenewslens.com/article/109150?fbclid=IwAR2yRea-VZBaVVcpVO6BWtavZpIfJ3ORLmFjWXzj4nlp6U2M4r_a4zESlvc

Wikipedia has a less inspiring but data-filled article about them
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Federation_of_Northern_Syria

Given Rojava’s ideological bias for community self-organization and consensual democracy (and training cadres to do local-empowerment work), I like to imagine that DF would be a potent tool to help their radical experiment that might provide a broader model as mainstream elite-controlled systems become increasingly shaken up.

Coheartedly,
Tom
