Hello All,
I would like to offer a structured discussion for the DF community, as follows:
Thinking about Dynamic Facilitation In Gendlin’s Philosophy of the Implicit
A four-week discussion hosted by Neil Dunaetz
Tuesdays: September 17, 24, October 1 & 8 2013
9am-10:30am Pacific, 12noon-1:30pm Eastern, 6pm-7:30pm CEST
What happens in a Dynamically-Facilitated meeting/group?
The shift to “choice-creating” is not so much directed as it is “evoked” by the specific way a DF-ed meeting is conducted. We can see the elements of facilitation that make for this shift, but what is going on unseen such that “choice-creating” emerges? Can we think in more precise terms about the non-linear and more-than-logical progression of a Dynamically-Facilitated meeting?
And, how shall we think about the changes in individual participants and in the group as a whole?
How is new possibility generated, and from what?
In his A Process Model, Gendlin radically re-conceives “the body” in terms of its implicit functioning. The breakthroughs and choice-creating of Dynamic Facilitation become more readily thinkable with the “process-concepts” of Gendlin’s philosophy.
I intend this discussion to be both a deeper thinking into DF (especially the transformative aspects) using Gendlin’s philosophy, and also an incomplete but living introduction to the philosophy itself. We will see what Gendlin’s philosophy of the implicit does (can do) when it “bites into” DF. And we will see if thinking about DF in Gendlin’s new terms can help us be better DF facilitators.
All who are familiar with Dynamic facilitation are invited to participate. We will meet by Skype and phone conference. There is no set tuition, but donations are welcome—whatever you are comfortable with. I will record the meetings and send the links to all participants. Please try to attend all the meetings, or as many as you can.
To register, please contact me by phone, skype or email.
To clarify, this seminar is not about Focusing per se. I do think that incorporating Focusing into DF would be quite fruitful. That could be a related, different discussion, at another time.
