I had a conversation today with someone who knows a lot about starting non-profits and some about charter schools, and he said we need to get some idea of how many students are likely to want to enroll in our school.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the word about parents -- especially parents of middle and high schoolers -- about this school?

The only thing I know to do is put out info. to various lists we're all on, and any small groups we happen to be part of.

Maybe the Autism Society would be willing to send out an email to gauge interest.  Can print info to put up at clinics, doctor's offices, and other programs for our kiddos as well as using our own social media contacts.

Diane, you should send Leslie Welch and Judie Strickland emails to see if it's too late to have a table at the Wake chapter's Resource Fair after Thanksgiving. I think the fee is $25 to have a table, but you might could get some feedback? No clue how big the crowd will be.

Also, another email to the Wake ASNC and FSN boards saying you are gauging interest and to please respond if you are unable to help out at this time but you WOULD be interested in sending your kid to a place like this... or something like that.

FYI -- I have put out the message twice on the Wake County ASNC and Family Support Network Yahoo groups. I also have put it up on the ASNC and the Wake County ASNC Facebook pages.
I don't know of any other Wake County groups, so if you know of any please tell me. Also, I'm going to see about posting it on groups for neighboring counties.

I will send out some messages again -- as Sara mentioned, just asking people to chime in if they're interested.
And yes, I already contacted Leslie about the resource fair. That's another message I'll be posting right now.

What about the ARC of Wake County?  http://www.arcwake.org/  They have a page on their website for area resources.  They may be willing to put something up about the school.   Putting up flyers at libraries..  also, putting an ad in the Carolina Parent magazine.

Is there a reason for limiting it to Wake County?  Depending upon the actual location of the school Durham, Orange, Johnston county folks may be interested as well.

I am happy to spread the word throughout my network.  What is the actual message we want going out right now?  Would a survey monkey type survey be useful to find out if this school existed would your family be interested?  How many kids would you send?  That type of thing.  Just trying to be on the right page with the messaging.
