Hi Christian (and all),
Just a reminder about the podcast update.

Also, at WAG there was a discussion to rename us as the Emerging Technologies Group, so we are now that. Our mission is the same and I won't change the google group location, but I will update our name.

Also, also, Ian has stepped down from the group for now.

Finally, I think we might be scrapping the delicious bookmarking project. Not 100% sure about that one.

Thanks for the update and reminder, Robin. ETG sounds good.

Craig and I have discussed my Russell responsibilities and continued involvement with the podcast initiative. Here's a brief update on podcasting:

1) I will continue to provide pre-production advice and consultation, technical (audio engineering) and administrative support for the webpage (as it exists now), feedburner and iTunes uploads.

2) We are unable to support video 'casts beyond the simple Flip cam that Ian's offered up for use (in most cases). Video can be very labor intensive and ties up our hardware. Exceptions can be made (similar to our arrangement with Development).

3) This semester I plan to finish a few podcasts I've had on the backburners. Probably just 2-3. Craig and I plan to put up some more of our Russell stuff too. I think we're looking at one per month for fall semester (see below).

4) Elizabeth and Kristen have each approached me about doing other podcasts. After talking with Craig, we've decided that "podcast suggestions" must be undertaken by the suggestor.  What that means: if someone has an idea for a podcast, they have to produce it. I'm still available to consult and to engineer the audio and admin. end. But there's just too much work involved for me to do my own 'casts and take on others' ideas.

5) I'm unsure of what to do about the Podcast "Group." I'm really the only one who's produced anything in the last year or so, so we're effectively disbanded. I found members' enthusiasm to be very limited, with a couple having "what-the-#@*& am I doing in this group" looks on their faces. Unless there are some who really want to take some podcasts on, I am the podcast group for fall. Given the lack of podcast follow-through from others, this is probably just as well.

6) I'm working on a podcast document (FAQ?) to better articulate the above.

Lemme know what y'all think. Am happy to discuss here, at next meeting or drop by and see me.

I'm working on a FAQ document for those interested in undertaking a podcast.

Re: Podcast Group
WAG decided to just fold it under our group (formerly DYG); so no worries there.
I think it was something that was seen as a potential group, but given the amount of work it takes not realistic (sigh, having done artist video interviews, I do realize what a huge amount of work it is).
