the tide being fortunately in our favour, we reached the Saint Vincent in good time, going up the accommodation ladder on the port side, which, as you know, is devoted to the use of the lower deck portion of the crew, just as Eight Bells struck. Ha, my lads, cried the Jaunty, who stood by the entry-port, you've just saved your bacon!.

Correct. If a new file shared the same data block as the default file, any changes to any new file would propagate backwards to the startup file. They are entirely separate- a new file is an unsaved copy of the startup file

I get this error when I try to save down to 2013 from 2019. How do I actually go about doing either Option 2 or Option 3 in this error screen? When I click the link provided, it only shows how to create proxy graphics, which I went through, and still got the error screen when I tried to save again.

Just so I understand, you're looking at the error, which lists 3 options, and saying we should ignore all three of those and instead do this 'export to autocad'? Or are you using different language that actually refers to one of the three options?

Export to AutoCAD is saving the file as AutoCAD-only objects. It explodes all of the AEC Objects, leaving AutoCAD objects that replicate the current display of the AEC Objects. There are different versions of the command to explode and save the file to different file formats. AECEXPORTTOAUTOCAD2013 is the command that will result in a 2013-format file. It is the option I would use if I needed to share a 2018-format ACA file with a consultant looking only for a "plan background" over which to draft the consultant's work.

I ended the " revitworker.exe " in task manager and tried to edit or save but it didn't work either
I tried to delete one plate and in the background process in the bottom right box a notification came up about " steel element deletion calculation "

Can you also mention the Revit version where this is happening? Has it always happened in this Revit version or did this start after some point in time? Do you have any Revit add-ins and add-ons installed on the machine for that Revit version?

This has also happened to me several times this week. Not sure exactly what is causing it, but I think it is related to steel connections as this is my first time interacting with this functionality within Revit and I've never encountered the issue in other projects. I was able to save my work by clicking on the undo dropdown in the top left corner, reverting my last 100 actions and then using the redo dropdown to revert the changes to my most recent action. Hope this helps someone else!

The same thing Occasionally hapens to me in Revit 2023. Sometimes If I delete a steel connection or move a column the calculation will never end. It does usually work to ctrl z (undo) until the command that caused the issue. Then I save and continue and the bug does not occur. However this can cost hours of work if I did not notice the error and kep going.

May be of use to someone here, my colleague just had the same issue. Decided to open an new blank model to try and copy the work across when the problem model started working again and allowed a save. Does just opening a new model template and trying again work for anyone else?

I can confirm that @PSmart17 's solution works, at least in some cases.
It did not need to be a blank file. I simply opened another project. I guess thats all the jolt it needed to reset the calculations function.

We're currently developing Countdown Pages, a space on your artist profile where fans can pre-save your upcoming release, preview the track list, pre-order new merch, see exclusive videos, and watch the timer count down to release day.

The obvious implication is that something else has locked the file when SketchUp tries to open it. So, the investigation needs to try to track down the offender. For example, I get tis message if I attempt to open a file that was sent as an email attachment unless I first save the attachment. As DaveR pointed out, sync and remote servers often lock files so that the contents cant change while the sync is taking place. In that case it is a timing issue: the lock would have to be held at the precise moment you try to open using SketchUp. You could go for years without hitting the exact timing required!

As discussed earlier, saving to any remote drive may work some of the time - almost all of the time in some cases - but it is a gamble. A tiny random error in the network can trash the entire SketchUp file! Saving to a local drive and syncing later avoids the risk.

It seems that the export file type is feature class but you are under a folder. The feature classes should be located under a file/personal geodatabase. So if you want to save a spatial data under a folder you should select shapefile. If you would like to continue with feature class, then you need to create a geodatabase of your choice from ArcCatalog menu then point to that geodatabase while saving your data.

I would be so grateful if somebody could tell me whether this box should or should not be checked. Is the answer the same whether I am saving as RGB or CMYK, should it always be checked, or never be checked? I can't find a clear answer on a google search!

Thank you. For the RGB files they will be viewed onscreen, so I check it when I save as RGB and it saves fine. For CMYK it is sending to print, and I leave it unchecked then. It just seems to be the only way that works for me, and I have had no issues saving this way, I just would love to know for sure that I am saving them correctly.

Within certain confines of time and space the receiving party may make a good, educated guess as to your Woking Space and achieve satisfactory results but after a few years (Standards can change) or on another continent (different places employ different Standards) the results might become more unpleasant.

In most cases there is no reason to make CMYK conversions in Photoshop, because the final conversion can be made when the InDesign(?) document layout is exported, or from the RIP when the final CMYK destination is known.

Similar to the scale of a map: If one does not know the scale one may determine that the distance between point A and point B is bigger than between point A and point C but one would not know what the actual distance is.

Thank you I am going to be honest and say I don't really understand what you mean, I am completely self taught so have missed out on all the technical side of things and have learnt by trial and error. I guess its something that has been annoying me for a while so I am just trying to make sure the way I am saving is correct. The only reason I leave it unchecked, is because if I am saving as a CMYK file and I check the box, it seems to look very opaque/washed out, if I then uncheck it, it is clear and bright.

Yes, a press-ready PDF is a somewhat special case - but no contradiction of the principle. You still need the profile, but in the form of a stated output intent. It is assumed that no further color management will take place, and the file you submit is already in the target color space - namely, the press/paper/ink it will be printed with.

The principle is still the same. The profile is there, only in this case in "terminal" form: it has been baked into the data which will not change again. It has reached its final destination. Which is why it's crucial that the correct CMYK profile has been used, the one that actually corresponds to the print process.

The reason you embed the profile elsewhere, is that the final destination is unknown. Or there may be multiple destinations - print, screen, multiple different screens. So several downstream conversions will inevitably happen.

If I then export the InDesign document to PDF/X-4, its Output Intent Profile Name will be GRACol Coated not SWOP. The placed PDF/X-1a and the PSD with no profile embedded, will both be listed as DeviceCMYK (no profile) in Acrobat. In the final PDF from the layout there is no indication that the bottom image originated as SWOP CMYK.

As a press-ready PDF is intended, no further conversions should happen, and therefore there is no need to include the profile. A profile is only there for future conversions. The output intent is just information about the intended destination.

CMYK by definition is press ready, there's no point in making a CMYK conversion for the wrong press. If the OP has communicated with the printer and knows the output will be SWOP, it would not matter if a profile is included or not because there will be no further conversions. If there's been no communication, the conversion to any CMYK space with or without an embedded profile is a color management mistake.
