My understanding is that, starting January 2021, Microsoft will require TLS 1.2 to send mail using 365 connectors.I have a connector working perfectly, that allows relaying the messages coming from the public IPs of my network. I use it since years for a big web application, for document scanner machines and other local applications. I use a 365 service shared mailbox ([email protected]) as sender, without using authentication.
Changing the port to 587 does not work. The only way to have the server send messages is to set the web.config section to enableSsl="true". This is of course unacceptable, as it will stop working once Microsoft will stop relaying the unsecured mail.
[UPDATE 2/12/2021]: first, thank you to those who all have commented and provide great suggestions. Currently, I'm testing out Debounce and Clearout.io. They're both pretty quick and seem very similar functionality/price wise. They both give you about 100 free credits so you can try it out which is nice! One thing to note- they both use up your credits whether the email is considered "verified" and "not verified" (not verified usually means "not safe to send"). I've seen other sites where they charge you only for verified emails. Other than that I have no complaints so far.
