good morning.
When I try to convert a simple rectangle (side 50mm) created with AutoCAD, dxf2gcode a double path for the creating of the rectangle.

When I open the gcode i see who created twice the instructions to create the rectangle.

I checked that I have one layer, and the lines that create the rectangle are singles.
Has anyone ever encountered such a problem?
Hello.

This Is not a Problem, thats by Intention. Please check milling and slice depth. If slice depth is smaller then milling depth more then one path is created. Regards Christian

Hi, thanks for the help.
I have modified the values in config file and now work correctly. Thanks

Hello there, do you have the values that you used? I am having the same issue but I can't seem to get the numbers right. Thank you

Hello Christian,

Here are both parameter and settings files that I am using. I have messed around with the values, and I seem to have made it work, but I am not sure how I did it! I tried again with another drawing and I am getting the same issue.

I have not understood completely what the depth values mean in terms of lathe. As I am understanding it, that is the distance from edge to edge of a cut?

Thank you for your fast response!

Hi Guglielmo.
This program was created for working with CNC.
On CNC machines is necessary set the working depth (axis3_mill_depth).

So if you want to get a groove of 2mm (axis3_slice_depth) and you've set to a depth of 1mm machine processing (axis3_mill_depth).
The program will make you a double path, because to get a depth on your piece of 2mm the burr must pass twice removing material (1mm) for each pass.

If you use a laser cutting must set the same values for
axis3_mill_depth
axis3_slice_dept
So the laser will only make a path.

I send you my config, if you any problem send me a mail.

Can I ask if you are using a laser cutting?
The machine was built from you?

Thanks a lot

Hello Roberto,

Thank you for your response! It is now very clear to me thanks to your explanation. The machine is an industrial size plasma cutter but I think it can be assumed that it is a laser cutting. I did manage to make it work and that probably was because I set the values correctly by accident.

Also thank you for sending me your configuration. You have helped me greatly!

Hi guys i am new to gcode. I own a cnc plasma and i face the exact same problem. Every shape i design, i see the code two times. I read the conversation and set the two values having the same number.
axis3_mill_depth
axis3_slice_dept

I still get two paths. Is there anything else?
Is there any other ideas about this or i ll always have to delete manually the second path, because in designgs with lots of elements (squares, curves) its not easy and it's always a chance to make a mistake.
Thanks in advance

Please try other combinations of slice and mill depth. Use a higher slice depth and try again.
Regards Christian
