I might have missed this and if so please point me to the correct doc's or thread.

From my experiments it seems that lead in arcs are only available when cutter compensation is being processed by the CNC machine.

I am used to being able to bake cutter compensation into the CAM side so the path exported already has this compensation AND the resulting lead ins baked into it.  Is there a way to achieve this?  Am i missing something?   It would appear that the code exists to generate the lead-ins as they are created when compensation is dealt with machine side.

Thanks,
James.

Hi James,

your right, lead in arcs are only supported when cutter compensation is being processed by the CNC machine. Still didn’t find the time to combine the two possibilities.

Sorry for that

Regards

Christian

I’m not sure what the deal is but both my responses have been auto deleted.

Auto recongnising of inside and autside is already there. Check the configuration page pls. If you don’t find it don’t hesitate to ask again ….

Christian - no need to apologise. We all have lives to focus on.  :-)

Your answer confirms what I thought and in the mean time I have been slowly picking apart the code base to understand the flow and general object graph.  I've started my initial hack to get a lead path when compensation is calculated in the tool (see attached image).  I'll continue my tinkering and see where I get to.

My particular interest is in code suitable for a plasma cnc to eat, specifically the linuxcnc plasmac component. So I'll tinker away on the lead-in/out, see where I get to and then perhaps move on to adding new layer "tags" to support auto recognition of outside and inside cuts so correct cut direct and compensation can be applied. Assuming something similar is not already in place.

Cheers - James.
