I receive a "Application Error" message when attempting to start DXF2GCode (latest version) on my Laptop PC which has a "Clean" Install of Windows 10. DFX2GCode runs perfectly on my Desktop PC which has Win 10 upgraded from Win 7. I have tried numerous program compatibility modes to no avail, also tried the previous version of DFX2GCode with same error. I am at a total loss as to how this issue might be remedied - anyone have a thought?

Hello Guenther,

do you have any more exact failure message or information how this
failure looks like? Does it just quit and the program is not starting at
all? Did you try to install also in different folders, maybe there are
any special characters in your installation directory like there are "ü"
"ä" etc. (Wie z.b. Günther) which could cause the problem?

Too long installation path?

regards
Christian

Hello Christian,

The only failure notification that is displayed is as described. When the
notification is dismissed nothing additional occurs and DXF2Gcode does not start.

I have the DXF2Gcode folder in a directory which is at the root of the C: drive. There
are no strange characters in the path C:/EE_Stuff/DXF2Gcode. I do have mscvr100.dll
in the DXF2Gcode folder as I would not use Microsoft's C++ compiler.
The DXF2Gcode folder was moved to the root with no change in behavior. Currently
the only programs installed are Norton AntiVirus, GRBL_Panel, and Google Chrome
so the system is bare bones.

Before a "Clean" install of Windows 10 the Laptop and DXF2Gcode was operating
properly on a Windows 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10. What prompted the "Clean"
install was a defective external backup of the system which was needed to
recover from a system crash.

Perhaps I should attempt another "Clean" install of Windows 10?

Hello Christian,

I proceeded to perform another "Clean" install of Windows 10 on my Toshiba Laptop PC and experience the same "Application Error". Please address this issue, granted it is burdensome but others will eventually experience the same error which prevents one from using your excellent program.

Many Thanks
Guenther

Hello Günther, i also have no clue why this problem occurs. Will try it with my own win 10 installation.

Hello Guenther,

i am sorry with my PC i cant reproduce this failure. Maybe it was solved
why installing something else (e.g. my games etc.). In the internet i
did find also many people highlighting the same errors.

Did you try this one?
http://www.gadgetsupersite.com/0xc00007b-error-fix/
Thas was one example how to solve it. There is another one
http://www.solveinweb.com/solved-the-application-was-unable-to-start-correctly-0xc000007b-click-ok-to-close-the-application/

Hi Christian,
Many thanks for addressing this issue. Unfortunately, I have made no progress, tried the links you provided to no avail. 1st link addressed the mscvr1xx.dll issue but nothing specific to mscvr100.dll. 2nd link suggested installing the latest .net, when I proceeded to perform this Win 10 advised that the latest was already resident.
When you attempted to duplicate the issue did you perform a "Clean Install" (nothing is saved, data, programs, etc.) using the Win 10 update tool from Microsoft. this is the procedure I used.
Many thanks again
Guenther

Hello Günther,
I just installed Win 10 clean 2 months ago. But didn't installed it new again. I propose to install a python development environment and work with that. Everything else will take longer to find the root cause.
Regards Christian.
P.s. check the Wiki what you need to install

Hello Christian,
The issue is resolved, I have no idea as to what fixed the problem. I installed Microsoft Word and Excel and then ran CC_Cleaner to find and repair errors in the Registry. After this, DXF2Gcode ran without issue. I will be performing a "Clean" install of Win 10 on my desktop PC and will record exactly when DXF2Gcode starts properly  should it exhibit the same App Error (post CC_Cleaner, post MS Word/Excel ????). Could be some more Microsoft MAGIC. Thank you again for your interest and support.
