Michigan, USA | April 10, 2012
It appears that for the longest time, Michigan film companies have had an ongoing rivalry with Hollywood. In terms of production budgets and great screenplays, to professional film crew and talent and finally post production technology.
On Tuesday April 10th, 2012, Michigan film production made a breakthrough in achieving competitiveness by two well-known Michigan film companies merging to produce a feature production to compete with any 'Hollywood' (please excuse the term) film you would see at the box office.
Laguna Films LLC, owned by Michigan film producer Joey Harlow, and Michigan based FireFly Films owned by Virginia Bryant, have agreed upon a merger which will implement a large budget full length feature film with all the glitz, bells, and whistles of a major 'Hollywood' studio releases.
Development plans involve the production being under a SAG contract with A-List actors, DGA directors, as well as ICG & IATSE film crews.
In this combined effort Laguna Films and FireFly Films will bring to the table their seasoned crews to fill out the production, this will enable these two innovative film companies to produce what everyone in California refuses to believe that Michigan is capable of.
This production will be filmed entirely in the state of Michigan. One of the two productions being considered, and to let a small detail out of the bag, has the possibly to be directed by Mel Gibson.
In closing, to all those cynical and resigned who cannot seem to envision such a possibility...
Get ready for the "Big Bang" theory to take hold in the film industry right here in our home state of Michigan.
Hooray for Michigan!
Oh and by the way... Where is your 35% incentive, Hollywood?
Answer: Can only be found Made in Michigan!
