We will be asking nicely for donations for The Hedgehog Party, as we do every year. Foodstuffs especially...unusual chocolates are always welcome, Cake is a surefire hit. Chocolate too. Things people may not have tried before but would like. Chocolate will never be turned down. Salty licorice, I am told, is acceptable...I'll respectfully turn away from that...possibly a regional sweetmeat that you're particularly fond of. Or chocolate.

There is a possibility that we're going to want a Deejay for some banging tunes (as I believe the phrase is, in modern parlance) spinning the old 78s and wax cylinders of the modern beat combos, like Victor Sylvester and that Johnny-come-lately Elvish Parsley...if you think you would have the time, the equipment and the stamina please let us know. Personally I don't know what's wrong with sitting round the wireless set listening to that nice Mr Churchill selling car insurance...

I should point out, of course, that whilst we ask nicely every year, we only really need the help every second year. You'd think that this would lead to stockpiling. But to be honest the spare chocolate goes to rejuvenate the concom in their long, arduous weeks and months of toil as they strive manfully, womanfully and I believe Penguinfully to pull this all together. And of course the salty licorice lasts for years. Like Dwarfbread. Except even dwarves won't eat it...

In order to avoid a repeat of the Giant Food Mountain of 2006 (whose
fault was that? oh yes, mine, oops[1]...), I'll suggest people bring
one or two items of food each (although everything will be eaten and
appreciated - any leftovers go to the techies doing tech clear-up on
Monday and then to the Monday DM party).

Balloons also go down well, although hopefully they go up well
first... Modelling balloons in particular, we always have great fun
with those, even the really crap ones I brought in 2010 (note to self,
100 for 99 pence is not an indicator of great quality! *g*)

not that much...aaarrghhhh...oops..."

Ah, maybe I should plan in advance this time, and buy the salty
licorice somewhere
that's not an airport...

With a bit of luck and a following wind - I could bake some Brack Loaf (also known as Bara Brith) to bring, if you're amenable to that. I'll also bring a list of ingredients for allergy purposes. :)
