Recidivists and Willing Volunteers can move along straight to second
section.

So you checked into the hotel, dumped your bags and then you need to
register.

What to Expect:

Tables, lots of tables with cheery smiling faces behind them offering
glittering prizes and bags of gold. Roughly speaking.

To claim your prize, exchange your name for you basic membership pack
with Banquet ticket (if booked). Then shuffle down the table to receive
your goodie bags.

That is it - you have done the difficult bit. You will also be able to
- pick up prebooked T-Shirts
- sign up for Klatches
- pick up info on other DWConventions
- sign up for the Maskerade
- collect a blue dot if you need one (please don't queue - come straight
to me in the purple polo shirt)
- check out the auction lists
- meet a Gopher King
- possibly glimpse some Hot Sects
- collect any special late surprises we conjure up for you
- anything I've forgotten

Most importantly though you can also ask questions. You can pick up the
stuff, wander away and come back with questions. You can stay put, mill
around and ask questions. You can stand helplessly and listen to other
people's questions!

Second Section - Getting in on the Act:

Old registrars are always welcome back - I think I've snagged most of
you but let me know if not.
Secondly newbies make great volunteers too - I team you with someone
more experienced so if you are coming alone or have some limited
mobility and want to volunteer I can fit you in (with a chair if you
need it). Just mail me if you want to join in.

If you are involved in running one of the other DW events and wish to
bring leaflets/flyers I have a table for you. You will be welcome to
hang around and answer questions at the same time

If you have anything else to distribute please contact me - I can
accommodate most relevant items, I just need to enough forewarning to
make sure you have a table.

Memory Lane:

Just a reminder that the Chronicle Live from 2010 and 2008 are still
online here:

With articles by newbies, for newbies and links to photographs to
reminisce or learn what to expect!

Nope, I wouldn't worry - they're sending them out in batches so you might not have had yours sent yet. I'd check your spam folder just in case but if you're feeling really really worried drop an email to ho...@dwcon.org with your details and they can check for you.

Thanks,
Karen

As proof of the batching approach, we have two rooms and they emailed them separately on different days, two days ago and yesterday.  But I was worried, too, initially.  I'm sure you'll get yours imminently.

I'm a complete newbie, so will probably be wandering round looking lost tomorrow. I also luckily live in Birmingham, so wont actually be staying at the place. I hope there's somewhere to park!

If you're not staying TOO late, why not come in on the train?

Make sure they give you the Convention discount (and if they don't, contact Ops or the Hotel Liaison).

Cheers,
