Balbinder Singh ji,"Wonderful Guru" is a laughable explanation as my friend pointed out, whose email I have also quoted earlier - a part of which I now repeat below:Quote from ''The Riddles of God'' by Jalaludin Rumi (1207 - 1273), the Persian mystical poet, may help explain Wahe or Wahy.
''So thou mayest understand His riddles and read both the covert and the overt.
Then upon thine ear will descend revelation (wahy). What is Wahy? A voice inaudible to sense-preception*.''
It is the inspiration of the prophets (wahy) ................. It is too deep for us mere mortals to understand.
The word, thus, pre-existed sikhism and is obviously borrowed from the islamic tradition and not your balle-balle.
Your man is using the contemporary wah = bravo / ''amazing'' to make up the rubbish explaination, when infact it is a lot deeper and more philosophical than this dumbed, whittled down explain.I'm not surprised he settled for amazing?? for he doesn't even seem to have checked the contemporary meanings in any lexicon. If he had, he might have concluded wah to stand for; strength, power, dealing/interaction, ploughing or even diarrhoea (in cattle). Certainly smacks of the later in case of his selective, ill-informed idiocy - ie it is bull-shit.============This explanation is heartily embraced by Sikhi preachers today who themselves do not believe in soul (or rebirth).Listen to Bhai Satpal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utRkJlDPCUoSatpal says Sikhi is the practice of yoga and that Nanak is the king of yogis.Yoga, he says, is union.Union of what with what?He doesn't have a clue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keBP7AzSrjQ&t=600s--On Sat, Jun 6, 2020 at 5:06 PM Balbinder Singh <balbind...@hotmail.com> wrote:Wahi and Guru are two words; ‘Wahi’ pronounced as ‘Wah’ means Wonderful and ‘Guru’.Wahi Guru has been used by Gayand Bhatt in the praise of Guru Ram Daas Sahib. Therefore the meaning of Wahi Please Guru, “Guru Ram Daas Sahib! Veer Ji Sat Sri Akal. Thank you for your response.
I did not clearly state what my objective was. What I wanted to say was that I prefer to translate Waheguru as God (Guru's Guru) and not
As Guru With in. Likewise Satguru as God. Therefore, I do not agree with Keertan Giani reciting Guru Arjan Dev's hymn "Sabb Ton Vada Satguru Nanak, Jin Kar Rakhi Meree" . I read that hymn as " Sabh ton Vada Satguru, Nanak jin Kar Rakhi Meree": Note the Comma place change the meaning; Nanak says God is my protector
Translated as; God is supreme who is my protector and not Nanak (Arjan Dev) is supreme who is my protector.
What I wanted to say is prefix before Guru refers to God. I prefer not to say that Waheguru means Guru with in.( you can say God with in).
Sorry for the confusion. As you know that I read Guru Granth Sahib daily even though these days about 10 pages daily (Whole scripture twice a year.

Dear Dr Kahlon,
Reading about your missive after a long time.
First of all I want to mention for the information of all the members of Understanding Sikhism that the word, WHEGURU, has neither been used by Guru Nanak or by any other Sikh Guru whose bani is incorporated in the AGGS.The other point I want to make it clear that the GURU of Nanak is SABD. Please look into my following article for details:SABD (ਸਬਦ): THE GURU OF NANAK

It was the first Sikh ideologue Bhai Gurdas, who set Sikhs on a wild goose chase for its meaning. The word is not used by the Gurus or the Bhagats. So there is very little internal sense of the Gurbani to guide one.
Sikhs today accept its meaning as "wondorous Guru" or WAAH GURU.Before we build on the topic further, watch these two videos to serve as a base for further discussion.

Kabir prefers to be guided by the Guru within. The soul is a portion of the divine and is therefore like a moon to the sun that blazes away above the head.
To break the obstruction between the mind and the all-knowledge beyond, one has to raise the kundalini force.
But Kabir has tied it down at its very first station. He is not at all allured by the all-knowledge. But he knows it - he is aware of that path too.

We shouldn't be emphasising that our concentration shall remain on what we speak while we inhale or exhale.. rather it should be spontaneous that we chant all the time ... without a mental stress of what to utter when the breath goes in and what to utter as it comes out...
