Dear Friends,

I had a tough time meeting this ENT Dr. Sumit Mrig who sits in sector 6 DDA flats. These doctors have made a cartel with the neighbouring chemists and the their prescribed medicines are only available with sector 6 chemists.

This ENT prescribed some medicines for my son and by chance the medicines were not available in sector 6. I tried in sec 23/22 but it proved to be a futile exercise. In the mean time i called up the doctor and he said these medicies will only be available with sector 6 chemists since there is no ENT in sec 22/23. Next day i tried at all leading chemists of south Delhi (BL medicos at Yusuf Sarai, Safdurjung Hospital, AIIMS ) etc and the medicines were not available anywhere! In fact one of the chemists told me that these are fairly new salt and perhaps a manufactured by unknown pharma company.

I again spoke to the doctor but he insisted that these medicines would be available only in sector 6 whereas even there these weren't. Now my question is can we bring awareness amongs people about such callous practices followed by these crooks? Does anyone know where can i make complaint about this doctor? I checked MCI website and there is nothing..

Pl help in circulating this message to as many people as possible so that others would stop consulting this doctor.

Thanks,
raju verma

Pl. ask the doctor to write the generic name of the medicine and then purchase the medicine as per your choice from any store.  However, Doctor may not do this easily and willingly.   For making complaint, there are some helpline also, see the website of min. of health of Central and Delhi govt. etc.

different companies make same medicines in different names, but the
contents are almost same. there is a setting between the doctor and
medicine company and hence the doctors suggest for those medicines.
If you know the contents, similar medicines are available in the
medical shop.

There are many doctors like this Dentist - this is a cartel. It is not between the chemists and the doctors, even the medical representatives are involved in this racket.

There are good doctors who are real professionals but there are few of them who are more businessman than professionals and this dentist is one of them, look like.

Few months back, I visited a doctor and he again prescribed a long list of medicines and within 5 minutes some called to say that we supply medicines of high quality and I got your reference from so and so.  The same doctor on a second visit prescribed some tests (he told me Pathlabs, Janta Clinic etc are all cheats and no doctor will be able diagonise anything with their reports and suggested a god prescribed clinik for the tests). Believe it or not, within 5 minutes of my leaving his clinic, one guy called me and he was in possession of all information including what all tests the doctor prescribed !!!!! I NEVER VISITED THAT DOCTOR AGAIN AND I DISCOURAGE PEOPLE WHOM I KNOW FROM CONSULTING THIS GENTLEMAN.

The complaint has to be lodged with MCI and there is a proforma for this purpose available in their website. Or you can walk into their office in Sector 8 (MCI office) and meet some senior officer.

Such persons are unarmed robbers in the garb of Doctors.  I ask for an excuse from the  doctors with social spirit but one fish spoils the water of the whole pond.

Dear Mr. Robin,

Thank you very much for your mail. But my question is why such medicines are available no where in Delhi but with only select chemists? It can lead to many more presumptions..........

Dear Robin-ji
It is very nice of you to offer to help in the issue raised by Mr. Verma. I think we should pursue the specific  issue raised by him and the larger question of medical ethics  to its logical end. In the meanwhile, please help with any information you have on the following: I noticed a banner on the entrance to Market 6. (Please see the attached photo). Can you please help us figure out what it is? To me it looks like a misleading ad misusing the name and logo of DRDO and Ministry of Defence.  If I am not mistaken you were or are associated with the Market 6 Association.
with best wishes

Dear Raju ji ,
There are almost 60 chemist shops in Dwarka.Among them around 10-15shops try to maintain wide range of medicines,so some doctors they do recommend those shops which is near to there clinic.Even too many customer we suggest some shop where some specific medicine is available. This is business and every businessman(in pharma trade) try to maintain his monopoly in trade by maintaining healthy relation with customers and doctors.Any way still I would suggest if you have made an allegation against some doctor you should give the details so that every member of DF can know the truth, and I can clear your doubt on each and every topic of pharma trade. Also if you can take the initiative I will provide you the list of sub standard medicine prescribed by various doctors frequently.Sir, I hope you will give me the details of medicines prescribed so that I can clear your and DF members doubt also.WAITING FOR YOUR DETAILS.
Thanking you,
Robin Sharma.

Thanks Robin ji.

l appeal to Mr. Verma go give a copy of the prescription by the specific doctor and in its absence, mentioning the name of any doctor will be great disservice to him and will tantamount defaming him in the market. If Mr Verma does not have any prescription, he should state this clearly.  Micro and macro, both are important issues.

DF platform should be used positively and not for defaming any one without any basis.

I m fully convince with the initiative taken by Shri Robin Sharma, suo motu though he is not answerable about the practice adopted by other chemist even he has try to clear the air. Mr. Raju Verma should co-operatve.

Dear Mr. Gupta / Mr. Robin,

Thank you for your supportive words. However, I do have prescription given by this doctor and primarily these two sparays Physioallegra and other one similar to Saline spray but a different manufacutrer (there could be some error in spelling). I dont intend to tarnish the image of doctor. My interest / intention is awareness. And i re-emphasise that why these sprays are available only at select chemists while one of the big chemists like BL (Yusuf Sarai) and Nath Medicos (CP) have not heard of these medicines. Gupta ji I'm not familiar with legal latin terms like suo moto.

I am quite postive and clear about usage of public platform. Moreover, we have been visiting other doctors in Sector 6 market (Dentist Dr. Mohit, Paediatrician Dr. Bhasin etc ) and never faced such problem ever. I have always purchased medicines from sector 22/23 and never faced this kind of problem.

I repeat, I do have the prescription and i wanted to share my experience with fellow members. In case i wish to go legal then i'll take advise from experts.

Thank you so much Mr. Robin , Mr. Gupta for your kind words and advise.

Dear Rajuji,
You raised a query with the DF and are ready to lodge a complaint as per your text? What complaint are you planning to lodge.?If you are correct in what you say Please cooperate and share the facts to acertain actual facts to your claims.Or is it that you had to wait a little longer to meet the doctor for which you are antagonised and thereby tryng to defame the doctors and the chemists by raising false. Alarm??This $atter is MORE serious!!The Forum would ike to know the FACTS Rajuji. Please cooperate and give details to Robinji to come to some logical conclusion?or it will be a bogey call.Robinji,we are with you n we must go to the base of it now that allegations have been raised at professionals??Who ever is at fault must be dealt with accordingly.

So many points are already discussed. My inlaw family is doctor family so well aware about these nexus.
First i suggest to buy medicine from chain branded shop like 94 or apollo pharmacy etc...they do not sell any medicine without receipt that ensure original medicine. Also people there well qualified pharmasist and can provide you alternative medicine by generic name.

Now coming to nexus between doctor, medicine company and test centre...this is norm of market and accepted. There is hardly any role of medicine shop other than sale of medines where profit margine are very high.
How it works : MR approach doctor discuss there medicine,  give lot of samples,  give handsome gift. Usually one mr has one area assigned and there performance judged based on sale in that area. MR offer gift based on nearby shops sale of that medicine. This gift is dependent on value of sale. Now doctor starts refering medicine to people...same time mr starts meeting near by medicine shop and ensure initial supply to support artificial demand. Once demand created near by shop has no option to starts selling that to survive. Please note that the value of gift is sigmificantly high as these are part of mrp costing of medicine. Usually 10 paise value medicine mrp are 1.5rs.

Nexus between dr and test agency are direct where dr get direct comission. For.example in chest x - ray,  comission more than 50%.

Just think a medince price rs 2 per tablet is offered at price paise 25 in bid of military hospital where quantity are high...

SAB GANDA HAI PAR DHANDHA HAI YE!!

NOTE - you can force dr to write generic name and if he is not willing.to write his license can be cancelled if appropriately complained.

I also saw one medicine shop owner is willing.to help....open queation....how much actually he wanted to offer to keep mum....??

I think instead of making the issue more complicated let us explore how this can be minimize if not completely eradicated.Whether doctos ,Comapany or Shop keeper indulge in each case it is a part of our own Society and this pont can't be Ignored.
Let us introspect and move forward instead passing the buck.

I have never seen Shopkeeper gives the medicine without demand so how and why we accept anything provided?

Plenty of questions but we need answer rather than questions.

Some tough punishment with license cancellation for doctor is needed to curtail all this doctor mafia along with closure of medical lab and life imprisionment for their staff and MR.. MR giving gifts is quite open.. Perhaps these corrupt white coated docs are more dangerous to common man then those naxalites who alteast don't kill a common man just for money.. How will this be stopped.. I don't think this is just possible seeing the situation going bad day by day in India.. Everybody just wants money by any means from top to bottom.. Whereever the govt. setup is invovled, there is corruption.. For life till death only corruption is the gift govt. gives to a common man.. Common man here is treated worst than how developed nation treat any strayed animal..
