Sheweth: Brief… Creation of - National Nomination Repository.

Sir,

In today’s complex world the importance of ‘nomination facility’ has increased significantly to save oneself from the hassles of lengthy & complicated court proceedings. With growing uncertainties in life, the touch points where an average middle class person must take care of nominations could be, like:

ü  Average 2 Life Insurance Policies,

ü  One Health Insurance Policy,

ü  One Term Insurance Policy,

ü  One Personal Accident Policy,

ü  One Vehicle,

ü  One Property,

ü  One d-mat account,

ü  One Society/club Membership,

ü  Two Savings Bank Accounts,

ü  Two Fixed Deposits with bank/post office,

ü  Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana(PMJJBY

ü  Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana(PMSBY).

ü  Gratuity documents,

ü  Employees Provident Fund A/c,

ü  National Pension Scheme,

ü  Public Provident Fund etc.

In total ‘nineteen’ - Any miss can put the entire family in trouble and shoot avoidable legal battle. It’s just not the misery that the family members have to pass through, but an additional burden on the already overburdened judiciary.

Just in line with other facilities provided by the Government like (A) digilocker where a person can store his valuable documents, (2) the National Insurance Repository to safely keep all insurance policies, (3) UMANG to access any Govt facility at one place, the Government may consider developing a similar kind of repository where a person can safety & conveniently maintain all his nomination details at a single place without any slippage. The portal should be safe & dynamic to provide the facility to change, update, keep more than one nominee for different items stored. The records so maintained should be acceptable in all court proceedings.

The portal can send reminders to the holder after every defined period say 3 years advising them to review and update all the existing records wherever required. This will ensure and help citizens to actively monitor and update nomination choices periodically without any fail and may, in turn, reduce a lot of litigation burden and personal problems to the family members of deceased.

And accordingly, your petitioner prays that -

An authority as requested above may please be created. Since the creation of this authority would require special authorisation and legal backing, a suitable bill may be moved in parliament for amendment, if needed.
