The CPWD holds a paramount position among civic bodies nationwide, setting benchmarks that are widely adopted across all authorities. However, while CPWD procedures are esteemed as exemplary by engineers, the absence of a specified reporting format for periodic road and field inspections has led to misuse by irresponsible civil engineers in other civic bodies. This loophole has compromised the integrity of road inspections, with reports often being ad-hoc and lacking in essential detail.
To address this issue effectively, CPWD should introduce a standardized reporting format that comprehensively covers all aspects relevant to field inspections of roads, footpaths, and related infrastructure. Such a format would ensure that field reports are thorough, consistent, and reflective of the actual conditions observed. By implementing this standardized procedure, CPWD has the potential to significantly enhance the performance and accountability of its field staff.
This initiative not only aligns with CPWD's leadership role but also has the capacity to drive reforms in how field inspections are conducted and reported across all civic bodies. It is essential that CPWD sets the standard for meticulous reporting practices to uphold its reputation as a leader in civil engineering standards and governance.
I look forward for consideration of the petition to strengthen the effectiveness of CPWD's field operations.
