DJB's free water scheme extended to Group Housing Societies

Delhi government today decided to extend the benefit of 20 kilolitre of free water per month to each household to the group housing societies which were earlier excluded from Delhi Jal Board's scheme.

Delhi Jal Board in a press statement said the benefit of this scheme would also be available to Group Housing Societies which have functional meters.

Soon after coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party government had announced 20 kilolitres of free water monthly to all households with functional water metres from January one.

However, people living in areas under New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi Cantonment Board were not included under the scheme even as officials had said a decision on extending the benefit to residents of group housing societies would be taken later.

"The domestic consumers of Delhi Jal Board consuming water upto 20 kilolitre per month will be exempted from payment of water bill with effect of January 1. The benefit of free water upto 20 KL per month will be available only to consumers who have functional meters including group housing societies," said an official.

It was furher added consumers with more than 20 kilolitre per month of consumption would be billed as per applicable tariff for their full water consumption.

DJB officials also said consumers can lodge report of any malpractice by the reading staff to the Director (revenue) of zonal offices on their telephone numbers between 9.30 AM and 5 PM from Monday to Saturday.

"Alternatively, consumers may also call the customer care helpline at 011-23612222 to register their complaints between 9.30 AM and 6 PM on weekdays, said the official.

Hi All,

Its a great new for all the residents of CGHS, Dwarka to get included in this government water scheme.

But to avail the benefits of this scheme, each flat in every society should be individually metered so that the monthly consumption of each family can be measured and regulated.

Currently, in most of the societies water bills are paid on the flat rate basis, i.e. each member in a society make equal water bill payment. Water Bill Payment is not based on the consumption of each family.

To avail this benefit, individual water metering for each flat is must.

Seeking your valuable views.

Regards,
Ankur

But as per the Methodology adopted, Group Housing Societies of Dwarka are not the beneficiary of this scheme.

All societies across Delhi are included. For this, every house hold will have to take separate metre monthly consumption cannot be measured by single metre for whole society.  If paper has reported that it is for trans yamuma societies, the report appears to be wrong.  During the day, will try to confirm this fact.

The DDA does not listen to any body, says it has autonomous status, hardly care even for UD Ministry. Definitely, it is not under the Delhi Govt, of Delhi Jal Board who is under the Chairmanship of Delhi CM.  Only LG, Chairman of DDA, or Central Govt. can order DDA to give matching water free in Dwarka. V should write to LG and the Centre.

No response from LG or MoUD on this issue.
They all know that water supply in DWK is a tricky matter fully politicised and no one will be happy to take over.

Why Letter to MUD or LG?
Dwarka is a part of Delhi.
Ruling Delhi Govt assured in manifesto free water for Total Delhi.
Implemented with conditions in Delhi.
BUT LEFT DWARKA SUB CITY.

DDA
“Land Development & Housing Authority no expertise or infrastructure for water distribution”. Supplying Water to Dwarka.

DDA want to handover water distribution of Dwarka to DJB.

DJB
Delhi Jal Board (DJB) was constituted through an Act of Delhi Legislative Assembly on 6th April 1998, as a Single Authority to Manage Potable Water, Sewerage & Ground Water in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. DJB has ensured average availability of 50 gallons (227 liters) per capita per day of filtered water through an efficient network of WTPs, BPSs, UGRs and about 9000 kms of water mains & distribution system. DJB is under Delhi CM.
RULING GOVT SHALL INSTRUCT THE DJB to TAKEOVER DWARKA WATER DISTRIBUTION.
INSTRUCT THE DJB DIVIDE AVAILABLE WATER EQUALLY IN ALL COLONIES OF DELHI
GIVE PROMISED 700 LITERS FREE WATER PER DAY TO ALL DWARKA FLATS.
Or
DJB CAN PROVIDE TWO TANKERS (10 Killo Liters) PER MONTH TO EVERY FLAT IN DWARKA FREE. DDA WILL NEVER OBJECT.
WRITE LETTER TO DELHI CHIEF MINISTER not to LG or MUD

Malik Sahab,
You will appreciate in some earlier mail on WATER issue someone had mentioned that DJB has reservation on water supply to Dwarka project. But DDA still go ahead with DWK project. The result is being faced by us.
Recently also more (5) township is on the Planning Table of DDA, one of which is in Najafgarh.
If DDA do not pay heed to DJB then ..............  Its DDA's Delhi. Now who is there to decide?

Now we have New CM. People Own CM.

Write & Request to CM, he will order DJB to take Dwarka water supply, DJB is under his control.

New CM can direct to DDA not go far new five townships till water is made available to Dwarka.

Now CM Darbar has stopped write E Mail

We do think DDA wants the water issue off its back. The new sectors of Dwk will be coming up in future.
So who will be accountable for adequate water supply. The development will take place, djb saying they were not consulted on it.Politicians mkng the most of it.
Are we asking for this for the free water supply.Planning is important.

CM can't direct DDA.He will hv to go for dharna again.Cud u ever imaigine such an insensitive govt to the most responsible group of citizens
many people will again criticise his way of working. But unfotunately this is the only thing the present power understand.DF has made umpteen effortsbut what is the outcome. dwarka people hv been paying thru' their nose for highly substandard water which has corroded the pipes and fittings of bathrooms

By now ,after Kejri,Lok Sabha elections etc etc.,we are wiser to find that Kejri s free water scheme was not at all for Dwarka .What to talk of free water,we are even deprived of any piped water, reduced supply of DDA tankers, impounded private tankers, seized borewells from where private tankers used to get water resulting ultimately in unbearable costs reqd to be paid to those private tankers who may agree to supply whatever quality / quantity and resulting issues of health, damages to utencils, geysers, pipelines etc.And at this rate, one shudders to think what would happen in high summer.         Similarly,Dwarka was exempted from the benefits of power subsidies to the Societies with single meter billing .                      I wonder how and when such anomalies for Dwarka would be addressed.
