Car registration plates in Hindi language

I am attaching herewith the photos of the number plate of a car seen in Dwarka  several times.  Kindly see whether Hindi number plate is allowed or only in English language is allowed. 

Hope to take suitable action on the above.  Kindly ack the receipt of my mail.

Yes.

Its interesting but truth.

What I was informed that it is an offence if the number is in Hindi numeric.I was also informed that it is written in the act itself.So if anybody has to blamed is our own legislator not Traffic Police.

Sushil Ji is right. Regn. number plates alphabets in English and numeral & numbers in Arabic. SEE LINK.

But things are going on. In Kolkata I find it in Bengali. Similar in other States.

Number plates are allowed in Hindi and English in Delhi.And in States regional language is permitted.

Hindi is not allowed. Its confirmed. 

This is to avoid confusion as most of the people don't know Hindi numbers. So in case of any mishap, it would be very difficult to note down the vehicle number. I understand we all respect our national language but as far as the RC Plate is concerned, it is not allowed and in fact it is good.

Personally I feel it's not worth debating issue - promotion of Hindi is other thing, but not for such things - whose kids write and understand Hindi numbers nowadays - also in case of any need how many of us can note down reg no of a vehicles if its written in other languages  ?

We have other important things to debated and acted upon, which impacts our society largely

Hindi script, especially numerals, are not understood well outside the Hindi-speaking regions.  As cars can be freely driven all over India, it is essential that the police all over the country can read the number plates. If the violators of this rule are not booked, there's going to the chaos.  But who cares? I have seen in heart of Delhi (right next to the Mandir Marg Police Station) a jeep without any number plate, but with the word "Vidhayak" written instead. If that's allowed, we should allow number plates in Swahili also.

This is Indian System. Although in most of the states it is observed that number plates are in local language (Gujarati/Bengali etc.). Most of the countries use their own language. Feel let-down with the existence of such law in India that does not allow usage of our national language.

Thanks Shri Arun Banerjee for enlighting us.  In fact the number plates should be standrad size as stated in Trafffic police website so that people can note down their registration number easily n immediately in case of any accident.  I hope, new security plates will solve this issue automatically since it is being issued by the govt and private plates will not be allowed.  Small- 2 things/problems  become major problems one day so the point is that it should be taken care of in the beginning itself

It is sad that a question on our mother tongue is raised.A person must be ashamed of being devotee of Foreign Language.It is our national language and we have the right to preserve my choice of language.It shows that our thinking is bankrupt.Sorry if it hurts but I am a soldier of our beloved nation Bharat and Bharti.

Our leaders whenever deliver speech or lecture in foreign countries, in international seminars or summits, how many times they speak in HINDI although there is provision of translators.
