Sub: Scanning of fastag at toll plazas– Process Improvement.

Sir,

 

To enable faster movement of vehicles at national highway toll plazas NHAI has made the collection mandatory through fastag. However, this movement can still be made faster and vehicles may not be required to stop at all. At present one scanner is fixed in every lane. While the front-most vehicle is standing and getting scanned, all other vehicles are also queue up before it. So, if we install 2 one after another, at some distance in one lane, in one go multiple vehicles can get scanned. A few speed breakers of approved design can be placed in each of the lane in such a way that no one is required to stop rather all vehicles can keep on moving at a slow pace and cross the plaza.

This move will also generate redundant capacity in the system, where if one scanner malfunctions the movement in the lane will not stop and avoid piling up of vehicles as several times happened on many toll plazas since the implementation of toll collection through fastag. In recent past also there were news about long traffic jams due to non-functional scanners on one of the toll plazas.

On countrywide implementation, this can save significant quantities of time & fuel 

Grievance: Earlier also petition was filed but nothing happened.

Hello Sanjeev ji,

As per latest information, Fast Tag will be removed in near future all over India, a trial has already begin. Objective is to go for free flow of traffic without any stoppage at any of toll plaza.
