Municipal truck kills 7-yr-old in Dwarka

POLICE ARE NOT SURE IF THE KILLER DRIVER WAS DRUNK AND HAVE LAUNCHED A MANHUNT TO ARREST HIM

http://paper.hindustantimes.com/epaper/viewer.aspx

NEW DELHI: A seven-year old girl was run over by a speeding dumper in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Wednesday morning while she was on her way to school.

The girl was a class-I student of OPG World School in Dwarka Sector 19.

The police said the victim was on a two-wheeler with her grandfather when a dumper of the municipal corporation hit them.

Eyewitnesses told police that the girl — identified as Ishani — fell off the two-wheeler and came under the rear wheel of the dumper.

“The dumper hit the twowheeler carrying the girl and her grandfather Roop Chand Sharma around 7.45pm. The dumper hit the scooty from behind and the girl fell off. The driver of the dumper couldn’t control the vehicle and crushed the girl,” said a police officer.

Both the girl and her grandfather were rushed to a nearby hospital where Ishani was declared brought dead and Roop Chand admitted for treatment.

The police impounded the dumper bearing registration number DL1GC 1440.

Roop Chand, doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital claimed, was saved because he was wearing a helmet. The girl died due to head injuries and excessive bleeding.

A case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304a (death caused due to negligence) has been registered and police are trying to trace the owner of the dumper.

The police have contacted the south MCD to get details of the driver and it was immediately not clear whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

My heart cries for the parents who lost their Little Princess in this fatal accident.

It reminds me of a recent incident in Gurgaon where Dr. Pankaj Gupta nd his little daughter Lineshya were killed by an over speeding Haryana roadways bus.

This happened in presence of Ms. Jyoti Gupta, Wife nd Mother of the deceased; her world shattered in front of her eyes.

She later launched online petition to urge our law makers to make stringent rules for these kind of accident as MV Act is toothless and killer drivers get bail.

Read this article abt her petition:-

Incident in Dwarka is almost like a repeat to loss of lives in Gurgaon. Still the authorities are not taking action as we the voters remain mute most of the times.

Its worth to read about sorry state of Dumpers hired by our Municipal Corporations as they don't have fitness certificates even.

Read this latest news about North Delhi MC dumpers which don't have fitness certificates.

http://m.thehindu.com/news/cities/Delhi/garbage-trucks-operating-in-delhi-without-fitness-certificates/article6422045.ece/

Me as an Individual can just condemn the sad incident and pray to almighty to give strength to bereaved family.

But I as part to society want to raise this issue to higher ups so that in future something similar doesn't happen to our families.

Regards,

Pankaj

The places where these mishaps are occurring are entry zones for heavy vehicles? If so, what is their timings? I think plying of heavy vehicles within residential area is prohibited.

I am not legal expert but in USA its very big crime if you run away from crime scene after doing accident. Why our parliamentarians can't bring this law in our nation.. If a driver runs away, police should be applying all crimes like drunked driving, invalid license etc just bcoz he ran away. Why police needs to prove he was drunk if he ran away.. Its his fault and he should be made to pay.

I feel some law expert can cite more information on this and we can start atleast online petition for same to bring such laws where a person who do accident just don't run away and later appear after few days to police. God knows he was drunk, drugs or what when he did this.

Lets do our bit to not let waste the death of this innocent kid.

regards
Krishna

With u on this Krishna ji.
In Gulf countries this considered as serious crime.
But then cars halt there to let pedestrians cross obviously keeping traffic in mind.

Simple way to stop or reduce such mishaps is to take a picture using the mobile & upload on DTP FB giving details like time, date, location.
My experience says it works. As a good citizen we can play the role of civil cop.
