IMPORTANT DIWALI FIRE and CRACKERS- Safety measures

Attached a picture of Maruti 800  in fire, allegedly some one thrown fire crackers on 10th Nov evening in one of the society.This could be happening, if we dont take measures.
Fortunately no other vehicle was nearby. The Security and others staffs along with Residents acted swiftly and put the fire under control. The Fire Hydrant/Extinguisher system also got tested with this incident.






·       Avoid Crackers

Please bear in mind there are very small kids, elders and people with health problems residing along with you. All are requested to cooperate and reduce the level of pollution and understand the plight of residents either by not burning crackers or reducing it to a ceremonial/auspicious purpose. Parents/Guardian to volunteer and raise the awareness.

 

Those who are bursting crackers are advised to use ONLY  area designated for this purpose. First Aid and Fire Safety Measures be made available. Keep a large quantity of fresh water, Burnol, eye drops, wet towel etc.

 

No burning of crackers  be allowed in Lawns, Basement and Drive Away and Parking areas STRICLY. BEWARE locations wher IGL Pipe lines and installations run through.

 

All are requested to ensure safety of Electrical Lighting, Diyas and Fire Crackers. In case of any untoward incident, please use the FIRE CALL POINT (if installed) or Dialing Guard Room


 

 


Fire Safety/ Firework accident Prevention

The Do's

·        Always keep the fireworks in a closed box.

·        Take care and light crackers at arms length.

·        Discard used fireworks in a bucket of water.

·        Wear heavier cotton clothes so as to ensure maximum safety from fire.

·        If your clothes happen to catch fire, do not panic, drop down on the ground and roll.

Don'ts

·        Don't burn crackers in Central Lawn, Parking Areas and  near sources of fire or inside the house, lift lobby etc.

·        Don't let children burst crackers unaccompanied by an adult.

·        Don't put fireworks in your pocket.

·        Don't cover crackers with tin containers or glass bottles for extra sound effect

·        Don't examine un-burst crackers…leave it!! Light a new cracker

·        Don't light crackers on your hands. Moving the candle of the incense to the fuse is the recommended method.

·        In the event that someone is burnt, don't remove burnt clothing (unless it comes off easily), but do ensure that the victim is not still in contact with smouldering materials.

·        The earthen lamps lit on Diwali night are generally placed on balcony and window ledges. Ensure that these are not near any flammable material like wood, cloth or paper.

·        Usually, decorative lights and electric lights should never be tied to any metal poles as any current leak can energize the pole and give a shock to anyone who touches the pole.

·        Don't light flying fireworks if there is a heavy wind and bear in mind Height of near by residential buildings.

Fire safety and children

·        Impress on children that firecrackers can be dangerous if adequate precautions are not taken.

·        Make sure a responsible adult whom the children listen to, is present when they are bursting firecrackers. *Children often tend to listen to their favourite aunt or uncle on these matters

·        Ensure that firecrackers are lit in an open space away from homes and cars.

·        And last, but not least, remember that Diwali is a festival to be enjoyed by all. So, celebrate in a manner that does not cause inconvenience or harm to your neighbour.
