Sub: Trolly for broken down vehicle?

Grievance: In case of vehicular breakdowns, traffic police utilize cranes to clear the roadways. However, these cranes are primarily designed to handle vehicles having operational wheels. When faced with situations such as broken axles or tire punctures on large vehicles, there is a lack of appropriate pulling mechanisms available.

As a consequence, traffic congestion resulting from such incidents is a common occurrence, particularly on highways frequented by heavy trucks. Such traffic congestions are a huge loss to the nation and with increase in traffic the number of such incidents is also on rise calling for urgent steps to handle the situation.

Solution: Addressing this issue may not be overly complex. The development of a specialized crane capable of extracting vehicles with broken axles is conceivable. Such a solution could involve the implementation of a small trolley positioned beneath the incapacitated vehicle to facilitate the pulling process.

An illustrative example of this concept can be found in the film "Bhuj" starring Ajay Devgan, wherein an Air Force plane with a malfunctioning front wheel makes a successful emergency landing atop a moving ruck.

The NHAI may act as a leader and develop such a mechanism to be copied by other road owning agencies in the country.
