Traffic Jam Problem In Palam Dwarka Flyover

Dear Sir

                 It becomes daily routine activity for Traffic Jam over Dwarka palam flyover. And to whom  we should complaint about this. Because every person of dwarka facing traffic jam problem in morning and evening.If more society will come up then this problem will become huge so we should complaint to proper authority to ease this problem.

Talked to everyone so tomorrow road work can strat. Major dependency is on CE to clear malba and dtp to help manage traffic on a single road. TI anil will talk to his seniors and revert back later today. If everyone remain on their commitments they made on phone, road is likely to get better each day.

We do understand there is sever problem on TWO roads that give connectivity to Dwarka. We have taken up time to time. However, we need more ACTION.

 

1. Dwarka-Palam-Flyover-Domestic Airport Road.

2. Dwarka- Link Road to NH-8 Shivmurthy.

 

On the 1st one we would like to seek your and rest of the Dwarkites who use this route to list (in brief) :

1. Problem Points from Flyover till new Under pass.

2. Solution in your opinion. This may includ brief and taking draawing and Google map

 

On the problem of link road we have written toUTTIPEC only yesterday in continuation to earlier one.

 

PLEASE COME FORWARD FOR A SOLUTION.

NO JAMS ARE ACCEPTABLE 

I for one have no tolerance for any mismanagement. Even when I see a traffic violation and find a traffic hand standing nearby, I stop and call him to show what he is not able to see. 

the jams in Delhi are caused (1) due to lack of or non-operation of traffic lights (2) People disrespecting the  lights and traffic rule, and (3) the very width of the roads and flyovers being inadequate for the number of vehicles on road.

The greatest cause is (2) people not respecting the rules. I see it every minute while I drive.

If the traffic police is not enough in strength to man the vehicles, we the citizens should go and give them a hand. Can  this forum contact the police commissioner of traffic and discuss the problem and offer our help? I am ready to go along.

DF had a number of meeting with DTP officials including Jt. CP regularly over mobile in touch with DCP WR,ACP and concerned TI, few actions but nothing concrete but certaily response is positive that all we can say, we wait for their ACTIONS and doing regular follow up.

The solution to the problems, according to me, could be:

 

1. On the Domestic airport - Palam flyover road :  Allow only LMV to ply. All heavy vehicles including buses should ply on Railway crossing road.

 

2. On the Shiv Moorti side: we need an underpass connecting dwarka road to shiv murti. I know this is asking too much but ......

thanks for the links. they are very informative.

I still think that traffic police needs active and actual contribution to manpower. All senior citizen who can spare their time easily will find  that their help will give value to their own lives. Also, senior citizens are mostly taken seriously and with respect.

I think as per U only people using cars etc (a car which covers an area of approx 32 sq.ft on the road for one passenger) are entitled for better service. I suggest that to Encourage  Public Transport and to discourage people to use cars in peek HRS, the following arrangement should be made : 

 

1. On the Domestic airport - Palam flyover road :  Allow only BUSES to ply and All LMV vehicles including cars, Bikes, Scooter should ply on Railway crossing road.

But I think we should wait for Airport underpass to open and see what arrangement DTP is going to make. I think once the under pass is open, the impact of traffic coming from Airport which takes U turn above the existing U/P will ease.

Bottole Neck: at Indian Oil crossing and Palam Railcrossing Road areas

 

 

Dear Sir,

 

We have written to DCP WR on 17^th March 2010 on the serious problem of traffic affecting of Dwarka to rest of Delhi.

 

This is bring to you attention that traffic snarls at the Indian Oil crossing and other points.

 

1.         Indian Oil crossing:

 

There is a huge traffic jam the moment you come down from the Palam flyover towards airport. This is majorly caused by three factors:

 

a.                   The traffic red light at the Indian Oil crossing

b.                   The construction of underpass near the round about of the airport. This seems missed deadlines.

c.                   The Army is restricting and imposing movement of vehicles including use of ROW or Right to Left turn free for traffic bound for Gopinath Bazar Road.

 

DF Observation & Suggestion:

 

(a)    We have observed that the volume of traffic is very heavy in the morning office hours and the timing of the lights needs to be appropriately adjusted so that the traffic heading out of Dwarka is given more time compared to other.

 

(b)    There is no free left turn towards Cantt. This has to be addressed.

 

(c)    The Army has blocked the slip road completely not allowing any vehicles to go through. They have blocked the road with their trucks and patrolling.  This is also one of the reasons for the traffic jam, as traffic which has to go to the Cantt are stuck with rest of the traffic going straight towards airport.

(d)    We would request your help in taking up this matter with the Army immediately. There is absolutely no reason why they should not allow this slip road of use of common people. There is very limited or absolutely no movement of any vehicle on the slip road. We understand this slip/service road is constructed by Civilian Authority (i.e DDA ) not by Army nor its transport pose any threat as such. We find NO LOGICAL and SECURITY Reason for this action by Army officials as there is NO threat exists from motorist. Even the Delhi HIGHEST security zone of Race Course road where PMO there is no such restriction imposed are name few.

(e)    So we fail to understand why this should not be used and lessen the sufferings of general public, who get stuck in traffic burning enormous amount of fuel every day. 

 

 

2.         Palam Village Rail Crossing roads:

 

There is a regular traffic jam the moment of vehicles use on the Dwarka Sector 7(Brahma Apartments- Palam Village then towards Palam Railway crossing.

This is majorly caused by Four factors:

 

a.                   The illegal parking of Buses on main roads with nexus.

b.                   The illeagal encroachments of roads.

c.                   The non maintenance of Roads which is with MCD and DDA respectively.

d.                   The non maintenance of roads by Cantonment board all along AIRFORCE-Airport boundry wall.

 

DF Observation & Suggestion:

 

(a)    We have observed that the volume of traffic is very heavy in the morning office hours and the road from Brahma Apartments to Palam Rail Crossing needs to depute Bike and challan staff to issue challan on daily basis to illegal parking.

(b)    Deputy a Heavy crane at this location to remove illegal parked vehicles.

(c)    In coordination with Local police/MCD remove the encroachment to roads.

(d)    Request  the Delhi Cantonment to dense carpet the road on the Airforce side all along Airport wall..

3.         Dwarka-Palam Fly Over:

There is a regular traffic jam the moment of vehicles use on the flyover.

 

DF Observation & Suggestion:

 

 

(a)    We have observed that the volume of traffic is very heavy in the morning office hours from Dwarka and in the evening from Palam Domestic Airport toward Dwarka.

(b)    The Speed breakers installed by DDA on this route are not respecting specification as per DTP own website and IRC.

Dear all

I have the following for your thoughts:

Number of cars, bikes and all types of vehicles is too large even with present improved infrastructure of transportation. The government has never regulated the influx of people and vehicles in Delhi to keep it behind the capacity of the infrastructure. If this trend continues-- planning behind requirements-----the congestions and jams will never end.

A large number of families have car for every member. I see big cars being used by single persons-- more fuel consumption and more congestions.

The government must allow only half the vehicles on road. Divide them in two categories: last digit ODD and EVEN.

I strongly feel that people will adjust to this.

In Flyover-Domestic Airport Road, if traffic towards Station Road/
Cantonment is allowed to use the service road on the left hand side,
it will take off at least 40 % of the vehicular load from the main
road. Traffic would then be much smoother. At present, this road is
closed by armed forces people. I am not very sure this has been done
with proper authority or not.

Palam Dwarka Flyover has failed to meet the requirements for which it was designed/planned. Perhaps due to faulty assessment of volume and density of traffic. The solution must aim at curtailing traffic volume. 5/6 lane traffic has to converge into 3 lanes at the mouth of bridge, causing thereby congestion and jam. Lane driving from under bridge to over bridge may help.
